-Food is simply fuel for your body and nothing more.

The sooner you accept this, the better off you will be.

Sadly, I am still trying to convince myself to believe these statements.

I need to convince myself of several of those statements.

I don't have any tattoos but I may need to go all out and get a sleeve made out of this!

I hope I can truly internalize those words someday.

My thought to share this overcast morning in Ohio
FOOD=the most overused Comfort Measure
EXERCISE= the most under- utilized antideppresent.
Just something to ponder on.

This is such a great reminder. :)

I still struggle with remembering this, though. food is still way too important to me. One day at a time, that's all you can do.

Sure thing, I wrote it myself. It is something I repeat in my head trying to keep myself focused.

I understand, that is why I wrote it. I find myself being guilty of all the things I mentioned. After a 40 hour work week I feel like I owe it to myself to eat something to "reward" myself. I want pizza or junk food or the like. I am recovering alcoholic and addict, I am sober today. Food is the only thing I have left to abuse. The sleeve has definitely helped me in the sense that I cannot eat as much as I used to, but the mental obsession to eat is still there. Before sleeve surgery I estimate I was taking in roughly 8000 to 10000 calories a day. I typically take in about 3000 per day now at 18 months out, I realize that is too many calories and am trying to get it under control and starting to walk as a form of exercise.

      So my surgery anniversary date is on the 24th of this month, but I had my 1-year follow up early with my surgeon this morning (I have another 1-year followup at the hospital on Monday to get my bloodwork and labs done).
      Anyhoo...my surgeon was very pleased with my results (and so where the office staff apparently, because 3 of the front desk ladies came by my exam room to give me props/high fives/generally gawk at me).
      But get this: he asked if I would be willing to come in for a future photoshoot so that I could be on a poster! And I was all, ummmm....no thanks, LOL.

      Today was a really tough day and I turned to food (and a watered down glass of wine). The interesting part was that I felt REALLY full after eating half my go to cheat snack, tortilla chips with cheese. So the GBP is doing its job!

      The only way I can tell that I'm losing weight is from the scale and my clothes "getting bigger".
