Screwballiski I think u have it down. It’s constant diligence and give a little, get a little . I want to lose my last 10 and I am going to have to tighten things up and review every morsel that goes in my mouth ! Not fun but necessary !

I can only share my experience. This is what works for me.

I am just over 8 months out. I CANNOT EAT OVER 1000 calories on the reg and lose weight. I can maintain at 1050-1100. Anything more and I gain. I'm at 126 lbs. My original goal was 150. Crushed it. My surgeon said I was perfect at 135lbs. Good for him. I WANT to continue to weigh 125-127lbs.

But, to maintain this weight, it takes constant vigilance and work. It's a drag sometimes. Isn't everything?!

For me that means I have to eat high Protein and super low carb. I have to be very strict almost all the darn time. Like, under 55 carbs a day. And, those carbs have to come from good foods. I enjoy Friday Funday every week with my husband now that I'm at my happy spot. Here's what that looks like; the toppings from two small slices of supreme pizza. One small bite of thick crust, (my only bread, ever), a 2oz cup of trail mix (the kind with dried fruit AND M&M's) and 1 tiny handful of popcorn. This is over 2-3 hours. I also have a double Tito's screwdriver--light on the OJ/heavy on the ice--long before I eat anything. Add to this a Protein Shake and a Keto coffee with chocolate Greens throughout the rest of the day and you have summed up my wild and crazy eating adventure day! I usually gain 1/2-1 full pound. Then I have to lose it!

You can imagine the rest of the week.

That's how I maintain my ideal weight. If I feel like losing a pound, I cut a few carbs. If I feel too slim, I add some.

I never worry about fat...never buy/eat low fat products because they have added sodium and sugar. Good fats are good fats. I don't cook with salt, eat fast food (except a few bites of Wendy's chili every now and then). I keep my bag primed with Protein Bars. And I don't put junk in me because I didn't come this far to fail my body after the amazing response it's given me with this fab tool.

But, it's not for everyone. I have a butt ton of support from my husband. I am retired and control my environment. I have a "piss off you psychos" attitude that makes me hard to corrupt when I'm out with girlfriends who are trying to get me to drink or eat crap.

To most people it sounds like my food situation sucks. To me, I finally feel like food isn't controlling my life. I don't live for it anymore. It's just a survival mechanism. It's not a pleasure or a comfort. It just keeps me alive and healthy. Then on Fridays? I add a little sparkle! (It's always enough.). :) :) :)

Amen!

I lost 40# before and 40# which is all great but I’d really like to lose 30-40 more. I have no problem going slow but I’ve been plateaued since 6 months post-surgery.

I’ve tried everything I can think of
eating more (NUT recommended 1200-1300 cal)
eating less (900-1000 cal)
focusing on Protein (60-100g)
eating more balanced (33% - 33% - 33%)

Nothing has worked! I’m just stuck gaining and losing the same 4lbs since end of August.

Hope things are going well. Any updates?

I agree with the shake things up. I eat very low carb, under 20g max. I get your frustration. I have realized I have a very low heart rate, low BP and low body temp. I just don't need as many calories as others. As strange as it sounds sometimes taking a few days off of my strict calorie counts and workouts seems to help if I get right back to my program. If I'm really stuck I mix up my exercise routine and that jump starts my loss. I get being frustrated at six months or and you do need to figure out why you are not losing. I wish you luck and post when you figure it out you're not alone.

Honestly? I think you are eating too many calories and carbs. Fat is fine. Protein is high unless you are a dude and super athlete. But 5'4" even as a male, 90+ grams protein seems high.

Yep another one here who has to keep an eye peeled to eat to my cals/macros. I personally lose best in the sweet spot between 600-850ish. At 1000cals I'm in maintenance or else losing so slow that I lose momentum and focus and get frustrated. (I'm a 5'4" woman, 56 years old with a tanked metabolism). I also walk about an hour per day.

I try to keep the following:

protein 60-75g

net carbs to <20-30g roughly

healthy fats to make up the balance of calories up to 600-850

I also IF and weigh, measure, plan and log everything and continually mix things up. The last 20lbs has been even more challenging than the entire weight loss combined. I'm determined to hit between 123-125lbs (my top secret Barbie Dreamgirl weight).

Here's my TDEE from KetoGains and if I want to do a 500cal/day deficit, I have to really max nutrition. This is pretty close to get me to the ballpark but still too high on protein for me.

I went through this same thing. I did everything I could do food wise, I was told to try swimming. The change in activity to swimming was a whole body workout and this got my metabolism moving again. Good luck to you.

600-900 seems rather low but I guess I could try that next. I’ve managed to lose a few pounds the past month only to see it bounce back in the past two days. I’m about to start adding some biking to my daily routine and am hoping that kicks my metabolism into high gear again for a while.

I’d dial that sodium down to about 1500, too. It makes a huge difference in weight loss. I know the common thinking had been 2,300 for adults for years but that thinking is changing. Salt is a killer. If you wean off it now, you won’t have to as you age and you will see a difference in your health. :)

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
