Feet Swelling- Gout

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 8 weeks ago and have experienced continued gout attacks and I'm limited on medications I can now take. When I don't have a flare up my toes and ankle swell throughout the day. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Also I'm not eating anything that would cause a flare up and the allopurinol and colchicine don't stop the attacks from coming

I learned after a surgery years ago that anesthesia can cause gout. The only time I ever had gout was after that surgery. It can be helped by drinking more Water to help clear the uric acid from your from your body. I mean a lot of water. I have read drinking a tablespoon of Pure Apple Cider vinegar a couple times a day every day helps to break up the crystals in the joints that cause the extreme pain. I hope you get relief soon. Gout is the worst debilitating pain ever.

Drinking cherry juice and taking cherry pills helps my husband keep his gout at bay. When he lays off the cherry pills and juice and feels an attack coming on he takes a certain pill and the attack completely goes away. He tried other pills and they did nothing so I think it depends on the person what will work. I dont think it is ibuprofen based so it might be ok. He found the pill because his medicine wasnt working and one of his co-workers gave him on of his and they were like magic pills. I think I have a pic of them I'll look for it and post it.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
