Super embarrassing but need advice!

Ok this is not the most modest of topics but I have to ask......my surgery is tomorrow and not even joking, my period decided to start a week late (I had thought I just missed it), and it started late last night. Has anyone been on their period when having surgery? I’m totally mortified right now 😬

Yeah, they make you wear a big ol’ pad. Don’t be embarrassed - they’re about to see you entirely naked, with plenty of your blood already involved, and if they really wanted to could probably angle the camera and get a look at all of your ladybits from the inside.

From their perspective, it’s like a mechanic working on a car that happens to have a small leak in the coolant line. Happens all the time, no big deal.

Do NOT try and be coy and use a tampon anyway. THAT would be a health hazard to you.

Good to know. So just tell them when I check in to the hospital in the morning?

One surprising thing is that when you wake up, the pad may be GONE. Then again, so might your hospital-issued underwear.

Really it’s best to just view yourself as a car going into the shop. You’ve selected the best mechanics, they know what they have to do, they’ve encountered almost every quirk there is to encounter, and they’re going to return your car in working order and running a hell of a lot more efficiently.

True. I was mainly worried about the shower restrictions afterward. I went and got supplies to clean with though :/)

Should be safe to wash our snatches. Just don't aim for bandages. It's best to use hand held shower head.

Mine started the day of my surgery, Nov 5. and it ended up lasting a few extra days then normal, plus it was sooo heavy. They gave me extra pads and surgery panties and bed pads for home. However on the plus side, I completely skipped the next month...

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
