Congrats it’s only been 10 months for me I’m already under my goal weight I’m down 136 pounds started at 309 I’m 173 went from size 42 jeans to size 32 skinny jeans, it’s good to know you can keep it off right now I’m doing Brazilian jujutsu 4 times a week and Japanese jujutsu 3 times a week. How is your workout looking like ???

Congrats! My workout is very simple. I lift weights for 15 minutes, do 100 crunches and then 20 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. That's it.

I can’t believe you have had so much success with so little effort. I think setting little goals like that is a good thing, when you try to push yourself too hard is when you get discouraged and fail.

I think that gastric sleeve patients who gain the weight back probably have issues with "grazing". Snacking throughout the day on "slider" foods such as ice cream, chocolate, custards etc. My problem is not that, because I don't have a sweet tooth, nor was I a grazer. Mine was all about Portion Control. I would eat huge portions of seemingly healthy Chinese stir-fry with white rice, and be astonished that I gained weight!

My choices of food weren't bad... Just far too much. That's why the sleeve has worked for me. 65lb down and 20lb to go.

I had my sleeve surgery in November 2016. Pre surgery weight was 470. After 2 week pre-op diet I was 440. This week I weighed in at 220 pounds. That's 250 pounds LOST and it's been easy. I am insanely glad that I made the decision to get this surgery. I've heard stories of people who gain weight back after this surgery, and it baffles my mind because even 2+ years later I still get full so quickly. I can't imagine how anyone can eat too much with such a reduced stomach size. I know instantly that I cannot eat anymore once my stomach is full. I know instantly that if I took another bite I would feel physically ill. Anyway, I am beyond happy with my health and the way I look. From a 58 waist to a 36 slim fit in jeans.

Yay me!

I know that's right!!! CONGRATS 💜

I can’t believe you have had so much success with "so little effort"? One does not have to become a gym rat or to workout 1 or 2 hours a day to continue to lose weight. If you eat low carb and high Protein and do a bit of exercise each day you can get results.

Way to go! You're an inspiration! I'm just 4 weeks out, so I have 80 pounds and a long way to go but with stories like yours I feel it's possible.

Kick butt man. That's some great progress. I love the sleeve. I know what you mean. I'll be eating, I'll take my last bite, suddenly realize I'm full, and I'm happy to stop there. It is a crazy difference from 15,000 calories a day before surgery. I was always a huge portions person. When I was a power lifter in my late teens and early twenties, I was also a competitive eater. After I stopped working out constantly, I didn't knock down my food intake and the obesity followed. Now I don't have a choice but to eat small portions and I couldn't be more greatful. You look great man, I'm glad the surgery has been such a success.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
