I will have to try this because I can eat the hell out of some Pork rinds. And I love beef Jerky too. Those are some of my go to’s. Never thought of doing the Hummus pork rind combo. Interesting!

It is delicious. Makes you feel like you’re eating chips and bean dip.

It’s one of those guilty pleasures I have because my sleeve is still so darned tight at times.

Lol, listen to me gripe about that!

I’ve decided in the last month that since I’ve maybe only got another 6-12 weeks in my honeymoon phase that I’ve got to double down on my efforts.

I’ve been obsessively pre-planning all of my calories and macro ratios.
I’ve also been playing around with IF to get myself ready for when the honeymoon is well and truly over.
Since I still have 20-25 pounds to where I want to end up, I’ve got to make the very most of these next few weeks and feel like I can’t let up.
For now I’m eating a minimum 60gm Protein a day and I’m making darn sure I get that protein in before I eat a single bite of anything else.

I’ve also got my broken toe more or less healed and have started doing some interval training on the treadmill to add to my Pilates.

I’m so excited because I finally got down into the 160’s and am posting a pic to show everyone what that looks like.
I still have a fair amount of pudge on my legs and hips and my a** has disappeared into what I refer to as bari-booty (no more booty, just a series of wrinkles giving the appearance of a booty).

Ultimate goal weight is between 145-150. Still have a bit to go....

Protein Protein protein protein.
I fluctuate between 500-800 calories daily and I’m fairly active.

I also play around with TRE (time restricted eating) windows to get the most bang for my buck

Well... at least it’s still there for now.

I got that boldify that Anna mentioned earlier and I think it definitely gave me more volume.
Will have to do a before and after pic next time

No, but then again I’ve pretty much been able to drink Water since week 1.

I’m to the point now where I can chug up to 8 ounces at once, but my sleeve still fills fast with food.
I drink coffee with milk almost every morning and I drink milk and Water.< br /> That’s almost exclusively what I have unless I add some Gatorade zero to my waters when I start to get muscle cramps.

I'm so glad to hear that, Sheri. I can now drink water almost normally, and I drink a LOT! I was concerned that my restriction was loosening. I'm going to ask my doctor about this next week. (I an also eat more food, BTW.)

I also bought the Bumble and Bumble spray in Blondish and I find it’s easier to control the placement. Have you tried that one Sheri? I’m still trying to find the right combo of products for me....

Maybe it's just a fluke but I washed my hair and had less shedding. It was sudden and really bad at the 4 month mark and has been a steady loss ever since. I am hoping maybe I went thru the worst of it and it will start slowing down now. Fingers crossed!

Please tell us what your doctor says. I'm shocked at how much I can eat now. I mean, I'm trying not to obviously, but restriction used to hit and now it doesn't.

I'm worried about how much more I can eat too. Not so much in one sitting, but i can eat within another hour to two hours and that is not good for a food addict like myself.

I talked to my PA at my 6 month checkup and told her my concerns. She wants me to see my nutritionist to go over food. I'm not eating so much that i would not be losing at least 1 pound a week, but I'm not really losing anything. I'm afraid my honeymoon may be over. 🥵

Nope. Need to try some of that as well.
Thanks for the idea

Yeah I’ll ask this Thursday as well.

I dunno. I still get pretty full, especially when I try to eat meals too close together.
If I try to eat less than 2-3 hrs apart, I struggle hard core. But before my first meal of the day (usually not before noon) I can flat out guzzle water.
Once my first meal hits it slows waaaaaaay down.

I hate to sound like I’m constantly pushing IF, but I really think IF is helping me so much on this journey.
Last week I did a couple of 20:4 days and I swear my sleeve is tighter now.

I’m so glad you’re taking to health care pros and to us about this. Maybe it’s also time for a mental health pro who specializes in bariatrics?

In addition to logging food, make sure you’re logging your mental state when you find yourself wanting to graze.
Also, I find it extremely helpful to put myself on TRE (time-restricted eating).
Today my eating window was 8 hours.
I broke my fast at 11:45am and I have 8 minutes left. After my window closes, no food til the next day.
Trying to push my Protein and calories in can be a challenge and I make a game out of it some days

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
