Me too and you know what's going to happen, we'll have a little bit and be full lol. But I bet it'll taste so very good.

It’s gonna be so worth it! I need to stock up on avocados. I want one of my first meals to be a soft boiled egg with a perfectly ripened avocado!

I’m still in the hospital and I’m miserable. So so so much gas Trapped in my abdomen. Nurse will not allowed me to take Gas-X. I cannot seem to get the gas off or out. Absolutely no flatulence not one single time. And they are giving me oxycodone 10 mg every six hours but when I’m home I take 7.5 mg every three hours. So I’m also getting less pain meds in the hospital and I wouldn’t home. Hate to be negative but just so much discomfort

Are you getting up and walking around? The gas is NOT FUN but I found some relief in getting out of bed and walking a few laps around the hospital floor. I went very slowly with my husband close by, then gradually got up to a brisker pace by the end of Day 2. Honestly, the gas does linger. When I got home I took a few droppers of the baby gas reliever. Helped some. A few days after I got home I did marches standing in place. That seemed to move some of the gas along too. I did not have any flatulence for the first few days either, but it slowly came. I'm 9 days out and fortunately, most of the gas is gone, but there are still twinges here and there. It just takes some people forever to get rid of it. Hope you find relief soon!

I'm doing a diabetic diet. It's low cal, but I'm not feeling so well. I have a Headache, and stomach ache. I just can't wait to get it over and feel better.

I had a horrible headache for a few days when I first started my pre-op. I hope it passes for you! 3 day left!!

I'm not sure what a "diabetic" diet is (I'm a Type 1 diabetic), but if you are pre-op and radically cut out sugars and caffeine, you will have a whopper of a headache. I felt the same way for most of the ten days on my all-liquids--like my brain was too big for my skull--just a relentless exploding headache. I also felt a bit nauseated and very light-headed. The day before my surgery I got my period....and I am going through perimenopause so I hadn't had it since November. Of all the times for it to come back! So, given my PMS symptoms are similar to what I was going through on the pre-op diet, I was miserable. Thankfully, once through surgery, the headaches were gone.

I was advanced to soft foods earlier this week. Refried Beans are amazing. eggs are an absolute no. That was the very first time I have vomited. tuna didn’t sit too well with my stomach, made me queasy. Will wait a couple weeks before trying that again. Cottage cheese was good for Breakfast. Cheese stick and applesauce for Snacks. Doing great on liquid intake.

I’m going to do full measurements this weekend but so far I’ve lost an inch and a half from around my stomach at belly button level and 3 inches from where my natural waist is.

I have a scale that connects to my phone but I always transfer my weight to my happy scale app. Happy scale takes your starting weight and goal weight and splits the difference into small goals. I met goal 2 today!!! I’m down 28 since starting the pre op diet

That is all fantastic news, iDawn! My NUT is making me go much slower. I have another week of full liquids, then two weeks of pureed food, then after that, I graduate to soft mushy foods, like scrambled eggs. I have heard that eggs are not often liked after surgery. I like eggs, so hope I will in the future. Thanks for the good ideas on what you've been eating. I went to Wegman's (a grocery store) tonight that is one massive food mall with a full dining service and lots of prepped foods. This was my first grocery store jaunt since surgery and I found it to be a very interesting experience. I wasn't so much hungry as I was craving certain things--not sweet things though (odd). I scoped out foods for my mush phase and I'm looking forward to refried Beans, mild guacamole, mashed potatoes, mashed cauliflower, deviled eggs, egg salad (maybe?), and Laughing Cow cheese. Did you have any issue with the cheese stick? I suppose you had to chew it very well. Did you heat up the refried beans and add a little shredded cheddar? Tonight by "dinner" was strained baked potato Soup from Wegmans. I also bought all the ingredients for Shelly's Baked Ricotta. Great job on meeting your goals!

I had no issues with the cheese stick. I chewed it up really well before swallowing. I did heat the beans w some shredded cheese. I love Wegman’s! They don’t have them in Texas so I don’t get to go there anymore, but down here H-E-B is pretty awesome.

I’m not craving sweets either, which is odd for me. I do miss soda, but Decaf iced tea makes me very happy.

Hi everyone! Monday is the day. Started pre-op liquids. Very Excited. I had open heart surgery in 2017 and figure this won't be as bad. Here's praying. I'm 58 years going and can't wait to start walking and then hiking. Hoping alot of my health issues will ease up. No more diabetes already. Looking forward to breathing better and hoping to shelf the cpap mechine. Looking forward to seeing you all here again. Thanks for sharing and teaching out.

Should’ve found this thread earlier but I had bypass on feb 12. I’m 36 yrs old and work in construction so I had a feeling I would be quick to recover and was off pain meds by feb 15. The liquid diet has been no problem and walking everyday as well. Now the problem... I decided earlier this week (day 7/8/9) that general housework and bending over to pick up the dog (17lbs chihuahua) was within my scope but apparently not. While sitting on couch or in reclining chair I feel zero pain. When I stand up it’s a slight burning sensation on the left side. First thing in the morning getting out of bed is sheer torture. Sharp pains in the mid left side that is basically crippling until I make it downstairs to the couch but then less and less pain throughout the day until before bed it returns again. I’m not sure if I’ve pulled something or the muscles just hadn’t healed yet but now (day 11) the pain this morning in my left side is bad as ever. Selfishly hoping this is happening to the other buddies who had surgery the same time as I did just so I can stop worrying... any feedback is much appreciated folks

cheers

ps. Our post op diet is not specific per person but I feel like I could move on to purée but they don’t suggest it till day 21... I’m craving any sort of real food

HI Dubchild. Welcome! I had gastric bypass on Feb 13 and my chief complaint was a sharp stabbing pain on my left side, about midway down. After a week post-op I called the nurse to see if it was a normal pain. She wasn't all that concerned and explained that a lot of the surgical work was done in that exact spot so that is most likely the reason for the pain. I think you are experiencing the same thing. For me, the pain was almost constant, but did subside at times. Given it's a sharp pain, it's doubtful you pulled a muscle--I would assume that would be more like an ache. Give it a few more days and it should subside. If not, just give your surgical team a shout to see if they want to do imagining of the area. The longer you wait to start pureed foods the better to give your stomach time to heal. I imagine I will start pureed foods after I see my doctor for my first post-op on Tuesday (13 days after surgery) but I'm a slow healer so he may suggest I wait another week.

Maria My Turn---I never had major surgery, but I was surprised how well I felt a few days out from gastric bypass. I think this will be fairly easy for you compared to what you've been through! I, too, want to ditch my CPAP and feel more energetic. Good luck with the pre-op diet. I hated it and had headaches all the way through for 10 days. Hope it goes better for you!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
