February 2019 weight loss buds

Recommended Posts

Bloods were fine, bar higher signs of inflammation and uric acid. Back's feeling better.

So tomorrow I'm having surgery. Phew!

17 hours and we'll be leaving for the hospital... 18kgs (almost 40 pounds) down pre-surgery.

Still can't quite believe it!

Hope our 13th quads are all doing well! I love checking in here and seeing how everyone's going 😃

Also, for our surgery graduates -- how are you tracking your food/water consumption?

I've kept a food diary pre-op (as best I can) but I'm looking for an easy way to track exactly how much I'm eating/drinking post-op... I'm fairly bad at writing down liquids at the moment.

How are you keeping track of fluids, etc?

That's great news, EmzBee! Best of luck tomorrow--we'll be thinking of you. Please check in after surgery when you are able!

I have a notebook where I plan my Protein and Fluid intake for the next day. I make my plan at night and check it off as I go during the day.

Recidivist. This weeks seems to be dragging out. I am ready as this is a long process. I am looking forward to having a couple weeks off from work as well.

I cannot believe how well I’m doing. I’m 1 week post op. Was never given any opiates and never needed them. I used neurontin and Tylenol for pain on the day of and day after surgery. I’m honestly shocked because things normally don’t go easy for me in anything. I still don’t feel hunger. I do struggle w getting fluids in because I wasn’t a drinker before. I have been getting in the minimum for this stage but need to work harder on this.

I know you must so getting so excited!!! I do recommend having someone stay the whole night w you in the hospital. I know this seems obvious but some people send their family home because they think that they are just going to sleep all night. I was up constantly to pee, even though I was severely dehydrated. Dehydrated as in I’ve been a nurse for 20 years and have only seen urine that dark on dialysis patients. Every time you get up someone has to remove the squeezers on your legs and unplug the iv machine, trust me you cannot do it yourself. I would’ve hated calling the nurse every time I got up.

I’m so excited for everyone! I know some have been having pain issues and I so hope it clears up for them soon.

And I must say, my mood is improved. I’m just happier now. But that could be that I’m not at work 😁

That sounds amazing! What kind of surgery did you have?

Hey, everyone!! I had my surgery yesterday, and everything went rather smoothly!! I had my gallbladder taken out at the same time as my vsg. I have minimal pain, even without pain meds, and I have not vomited. I did get some nausea when I stood up for the first time last night, but it quickly passed. I have to pee every 45 mins, which is the pits!! It never feels like my bladder is completely emptied. I was nervous as heck before surgery and almost backed out, but I’m glad I didn’t!

Baritastic is what I use. I have a love/dislike for the app. You can set timers for drinking, Protein, Vitamins. There is a timer for when u can drink before and after eating. A timer for when chewing your food. What I dont like about it is their recipe builder. I can't figure it out.

Sent from my LM-Q710(FGN) using BariatricPal mobile app

I’ve been using the app Lose It for years. There’s a free version but you have to pay to use the Water tracker. I use a 30 oz ozark trail tumbler so I just make sure I fill it at least twice a day plus some. I’ve tried to change apps but I’ve used this one for so long and have created a lot of custom recipes. I enjoy tracking and I also use it sometimes to map out what I’m going to eat.

Hi, EmzBee. You should be on the other side now. Please check in when you can and let us know how things went in the hospital!

I hear you about the time off work! I have asked for two weeks of sick leave but have informed my boss that i might need more if I'm not recovering quickly enough. And just between us, I don't think I will be fully recovered after two weeks, if you get my drift. 🙂

By the way, I have not told anyone at work what surgery I'm having. I've told people it is to repair an esophageal hernia.

I've seen quite a few people who lost a lot of weight before surgery, like 20+ pounds. Did all of that happen during the two weeks of liquid, or were you already dieting before then. (As some of you know from my posts, I'm not dieting before liquids!)

I lost 33 pounds during the course of months leading to surgery. I lost 8 pounds for the 2 weeks of liquid diet. I lost 3.5 pounds for the 2 day Water only after the Liquid Protein diet. I also weighed myself today as soon as I got home from the hospital and I am only up 3 pounds after my Feb 11 surgery, but a woman who went the same day I did and was my roommate is up 12. Very interesting how we all are so different.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
