Yes! Me too. I was kind of afraid I could lose too much before surgery if I do all liquid for the whole month, which is another reason to do low carb, but I just need to get myself mentally under control.

I guess I shouldn't call it 'liquid', but 'pre-op' instead. Over here we follow the intense level of Optifast, which does allow for 2 cups of veg and any 3 optifast products (shakes, Soups, bars, desserts). First two days were hard -- mainly due to headaches in the early evenings -- but I'm on day 3 now and I think I'm over the 'keto flu' stage, thank goodness!

2.2kgs (close to 5 pounds) gone in 2 days. Gotta be happy with that! =D

Hope everyone's getting excited! I think my next prep step is to start timing Water consumption, taking small sips instead of chugging like I usually do. So nervous I'll muck something up by downing a glass of water too quick after surgery...

Oh, dear--I'm a big water chugger, and I hadn't thought of practicing small sips pre-op. It makes sense, however. I haven't started the pre-op liquid diet yet, since the exact date of my surgery in February is not yet set. (I see the surgeon again this Wednesday and hope to get the date then!)

Here's hoping for a surgery date Wednesday! Hopefully sooner rather than later, huh? [emoji6]

Just had a nutritionist appointment today. It went well! Over here we get onto 'real' food pretty quick after surgery. Got the psychologist on Thursday, then hoping to lock in a surgery date on the 22nd when I'm booked to see my surgeon... part of me still feels like this isn't real...

I’m having RNY on Feb 5th! I have a 2 week liquid pre-op diet where they want me to drink 4-5 Protein Drinks a day. That makes me nervous. I barely tolerate the ready to drink Premier Protein. I bought the sample pack of Unjury and Syntrax Nectar and also Isopure vanilla and GENEPRO unflavored. I’m sure I will find something in there I like. I also have a variety of crystal light, sf Jello and sf popsicles, and broth for my fluids. Anyone have suggestions for something else I need?

Oh, and I have my post op Bariatric Advantage multi Vitamin, Calcium, B12, and Iron.< /p>

Sounds like you’ve got s good variety. When do you start?

Bariatric Eating sells a powder that’s tastes great, but you can only buy it from their site. The brand name is Inspire. They have lots of flavors and all of the ones I’ve tried have been excellent. They also sell a Bone Broth one they call beef stroganoff that has 15g of Protein as well. They have other Soups but the carbs are too high on those, I never bought them.

I'm glad I found this forum. My surgery date is scheduled for February 5th. I go for my pre OP this week to get my final pre surgery instructions. I've already bought my utensils, Multi Vitamins, Protein Shakes and powders and have my shopping list ready for needed fresh ingredients; any suggestions of other things I may need? I read someone said lip balm and nasal spray for hosp so I will pack that and comfy clothes.

Awesome, that's the same date of my surgery. Looking forward to a great journey together. I didn't think about sf popsicles or chrystal light, good idea.

My surgeon seemed to be trying to talk me into the sleeve instead of bypass, and asked me to defend my decision to do bypass. I told her that the long-term weight loss seemed better with bypass, and she said she was more concerned with health than weight loss. (Easy for her to say--she is stick-thin.) I then said I felt that bypass had been around longer and was better understood, and that I was also concerned about GERD with sleeve. She seemed satisfied. 🙂

I will see the nutritionist, psychologist and do a pre-op support group on January 8; then I'll get my surgery date.

Your surgeon asked you to DEFEND your decision to get a bypass? The hell you say! How odd. I've heard all types of stories, but this one takes the cake. What would have happened if you hadn't satisfied her demand for a blow-by-blow explanation for why a bypass was your procedure of choice?

Was this your first meeting with this surgeon?

Yes, that was my first meeting with her. I had the sense that she was making sure I had done my research and understood the difference between the two procedures--it wasn't an aggressive conversation. If she had in fact refused to do the bypass, I would have found another surgeon.

Happened to me as well. It was pretty much why bypass over sleeve or vice versa. Wanted to know reasons and she agreed on all. She went over the risks again and then we scheduled

Glad to hear that she was pretty much just quizzing you as a way to find out how serious you are. Maybe it's just me, but people who aren't even motivated to do basic research are probably poor candidates.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
