So how is Sunday going for you? Are you pretty sore? How does it rank pain-wise with the last surgery? And when do you get to go home?

Heyyy! I got home a noon today. So, it turned out my gallbladder was so inflamed it had fused to my liver! I also had a hernia, not another ulcer specifically. The area where the intestinal junction meets under the new pouch had developed a hole in it. He said most people retain fat there but if you lose weight weight, sometimes those sutures separate before healing so he fixed this hole. I just took a 5 hour nap. Basically feels like a cracked rib and some muscle soreness on my right side. Can't wait to see the brutal heparin injection I get this time. lol! I havent eaten in 74 hours so tomorrow I'll experiment with some food! Tonight is rest and Water.

Sounds like a very good thing they took your gallbladder. I had such relief when they took mine. Hope food goes well and you will now have a new normal!

this is really weird to me. aside from the pain of where the gallbladder was, all the nausea is gone. i don't feel any restriction at all and i am ridiculously starving. i have to train myself all over again. i had 4oz of oatmeal super quickly, inadvertently, but had no ill effect. it's like the pain was keeping me on the right path. i hope i get some fullness cues back.

Wow that is so crazy! And your gallbladder was FUSED to your liver?! :51_scream: How does that even happen?

Ya know I found this weird, tiny set of eating utensils on Amazon when I searched for bariatric stuff. They're supposed to help you eat tiny bites compared to regular sized utensils. Those and special plates for sorting your food into mini portions. I'll definitely be getting those because I hoover my food. They're pretty cheap too. You've got this though...just like you did the first time :783_heart_decoration:

Yeah it was just so inflamed it started to mesh into my liver. He said it must have started doing that years ago, normally it just pops right out.

Ironically, the pain helped me eat like I was supposed to. Now I want to shovel everything into my mouth. I just need to learn to ignore the hunger.

Poor thing...hopefully it'll sort itself out. Your pouch is still new.

Had some severe dry-heaving again yesterday and nausea. I think it was from a strong pain killer I took, however. I have eaten about 8oz in a week and dropped 10lbs. I feel pretty weak. Still off work til Tuesday. Just don't wanna eat or do anything.

Hi Iย  am new here and I am going to have the gastric sleeve next month. I have to pay out of pocket so it is going quite quickly. The longer I wait the more bad stories I hear. I weigh 315 and 61 years old so I have a lot to lose. Any advice is welcome

Went to my initial consult with the Bariatric surgeon/ program I chose. Came home with a folder full of information &ย helpful organization of all the testing that needs to be completed while I complete the required nutritional counseling. She also let me know my insurance typically takes 6 weeks to reply with authorization when submitted, so that puts my potential surgery date near the new year if all stays on trackย ย I felt comfortable with her, in our discussions she agrees that I am a good candidate for the Gastric Bypass. I appreciated the 'introduction' class that was given after the consult with the surgeon where I was given this binder of every referral (from her, not my pcp referrals), & contact information for all the testing needed to make my contacts/calls tomorrow morning even easierย I start my nutrition classes on June 5th, so that's when the clock will start toward insurance approval & getting the tool to help me reach my goals

I had my Bypass Surgery on 04/25/2019 I'd weighted before surgery 308 and now 285. I get depressed because I thought it would be more. I follow all instructions from Dr.. Green walk every day work out and eating solid foodsย

Day 5 post-op... didn't sleep great last night, lots of gas pain and it was my first night without using the rx pain meds. I'm tired and feeling rather stupid. My nurse is supposed to call today for a check in, so I'm debating taking a nap now and risk missing her call, or forcing myself to stay awake and pray she calls soon. Also, showering should be considered a workout... just doing the basics used up all my energy. Weight is slowly working its way down. I know that I shouldn't be on the scale yet, but I couldn't resist. I'm down almost 9lb down since surgery. Yay!

You are allowed to feel tired, take naps and only do the minimum this soon after the surgery. Listen to your body and be good to yourself at this time. Most important things to care about at this time is hydration and protein. It is a full-time job to stay on top of that and prioritize your energy there for now. Just give your body the time to heal and adjust, donโ€™t rush the recovery.
