Hello everyone! I had a gastric sleeve in April 2015 - everything went well for a while but then the weight loss stopped! I am now gaining and it is scary. I lost about 40 pounds total but now have gained about 10. Any tips on how to get back to the loss again? I watch my intake and work hard at getting the Protein in. Any thoughts, ideas or recommendations will help.

From what I've read, a small amount of regain after a few years is pretty normal. If you feel that the amount gained is outside of "normal" (I would say 5-10 lbs), then the first thing you need to do is write down everything you eat in a day. If you're not someone who wants to carry around a notebook all day, go ahead and find a note app on your phone and try tracking that way. Another question I would ask is: are you grazing all day, or are you having separate meals with one or two Snacks during the day?

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
