Apollo Overstitch in Tijuana?

Has someone had in Tijuana the Apollo Overstitch Revision for a prior gastric sleeve? I really want as much information re quality of medical care and cost and recuperation as possible.

I assume this is what is known as the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty for those who have it as a primary WLS and not revision.

I can only give a perspective from a recovery point of view and with an Australian slant as practices may be different elsewhere.

There is generally no overnight stay in hospital in Australia. My doctors instructions include: two weeks pre op diet, one day clear pre op. On day of procedure and day following - no fluids/foods instead have iv infusions. Three day Clear Liquids, three weeks free liquids, one week puree and one week soft. Then typical diet with one cup volume while losing weight with focus on Proteins and veges. Portions to increase or Snacks when in maintenance mode.

Prior to procedure I was required to take nexium for one week and then three weeks following to lower stomach acid. Took a fairly strong anti-nausea tablet before procedure, and then two different types of anti nausea meds for three days after. I was fortunate, I only had some stomach cramps for up to three days.

Recovery has been great with the ESG, a lot of people are back at work within days.

It's going well, hasn't been perfect, there were times when I could have made better choices. Today I start 'normal diet' with one cup volume. In the early stages we need to be mindful not to do anything that could stretch or break the sutures while the stomach is still healing and 'melding'. I also need to remembr that the stomach opening is also reduced and if I eat too much too fast, there is going to be a lot of pain for a long time. This happened Friday night...ate dinner about 6pm and was still in pain about 18hours later. it was a good reminder, and I have stripped everything right back. Small bites, lots of chews, slowing down, strictly measuring food etc etc

I have a sleeve however I had asked my surgeon about ESG as I would hVe preferred no staple line. He doesn’t do them but said he is now doing revisions on other surgeons ESGs because they are failing six months out. Idk why they’re failing, my surgeon is considered one of the best in my state, so it could be lack of skills by the others.

That is good to know. There is nothing in terms of studies that can tell the approximate effectiveness of this procedure. Pls let me know if you find out more.

Can I have an ESG following a gastric balloon, gastric sleeve or gastric bypass?

• ESG following gastric balloon: Recent research has revealed that people who’ve had a gastric balloon do less well following ESG in terms of weight loss. For this reason, we do not recommend ESG to anyone who’s has previously had a gastric balloon.
• ESG following gastric sleeve: Endoscopic revision of a gastric sleeve is possible, however the weight loss that results is only approximately 10% of the baseline weight. There are likely more effective options which you can talk through with your Bariatric Specialist.
• ESG following gastric bypass: Endoscopic suturing is possible via a procedure called TORe, Transoral Outlet Revision.

I had already booked time off for holidays, I was going to Thailand. so I had the two weeks off. I probably would have been ready by day four or five to go back to work if I had needed to.
