Have you had the Shingles Rash?

Recommended Posts

I had nose surgery to repair a deviated septum this past Wednesday. I still have splints inside by nose so I am not allowed to blow it and I feel like I have the flu. Since Wednesday I have lost 5 lbs and now have broken out with the Shingles Rash. They say Shingles is brought on by a weaken immune system so I am thinking the Nose surgery might have been just a little too much for me right now. I think I would have been smart to have taken the Shingles Vaccine when it was offered to me a few months back. I am still eating and drinking what I should but am losing weight a lot faster than I have in months.

I had both shingle vaccines a few years ago and I have not experienced a shingles rash. So the vaccine appears to work for me. I am 70.

Did you feel any shingles pain? I have had shingles, not pleasant at all, and early this year I had the vaccine to help avoid any future bouts.

I came home from hospital with a really nasty cold. Less than a week later I had shingles on the right side of my face and inside my right nostril. Ouch is all I can say.

well the shingles got a lost worse since taken that first picture. I went to the doctor and they put me on an antiviral that appears to have stopped it growing and maybe has even started drying it up. There pictures were taken at the doctors office.

OMG I am glad I had my Shingles shots, at 72 I would not want that on my "plate", FYI,everybody, at 7, end of Grade 2, I had chicken pox so badly they were in my future " lady parts", old country doctor told MaMa " I'm not sure she will have children", scared the bejeebers out of her. Dumb old doctor, I had 3, each one bigger than the one before, Tomkitten was over 9 and half pounds. 12 pounds at a month, and never looked back. When he gets too: mouthy", I remind him he is carrying a BMI of 38 with a comorbid, Dr Needleman may pay me a $100 fee to drag his chubby self in, after all!😝&👨with🐺🐺

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
