Hey I haven’t found a chewable bariatric Vitamin that I have liked the taste of and was wondering if any of you guys has had better luck. Currently I take NU life advanced bariatric chewable tablets and I found them bitter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I never found any chewables I could stomach, especially as most/all contain sugar alcohols, which caused me nausea post-op. Instead, I just took regular Vitamins, and the larger ones I cut in half with a pill cutter.

My medical team clearly said to not take Flinstones or children’s Vitamins as they don’t contain the right vitamins and dosages for adult bariatric patients.

I had the same issue and still do, but I found a multi with Iron and recommended dose of Calcium and all I have to take is an extra calcium a day and one extra B12 a week. Bari Life has a multi that you can put in Water like crystal lite and it is milky and looks nasty, but the lemon tastes like lemonade and the watermelon tastes like watermelon. I went on their website and asked for a free sample. My Dr office had another brand and mentioned this one but didn't have samples of the Bari Life. The other brand I tried tasted exactly how multi's smell with a hint of fruit. But I LOVE the Bari Life.

Your surgeon advised this? Flintstones Vitamins are **NOT** enough for WLS patients IE they don't contain enough of what WLS patients need after surgery.

The only time my Dr's office recommended "kid" Vitamins was when I couldn't stomach the ones I had while I was waiting for the new ones to come in. She said I could chew one of my son's flinstone vitamins to at least get something in me. But I couldn't depend on them for good. Like you said Matt, she said they didn't have enough to meet my requiremnts and they also contain more sugar.

My surgeon's office recommended taking 3 Flintstone vitamins daily. I encountered no problems with taking these. They were readily available and cheap. My blood workups showed they were effective. I am over 5 years post-op.

I use to pick these up by large bottles at Sam's club. But for some reason, it seems like they transitioned to Flintstone gummy vitamins. And as a result the large bottles are no longer available. I was warned by my surgeon's office to not use Gummy vitamins because they would not be absorbed properly. I tried using other children's Multivitamins, but I was dissatisfied with them. They tasted bad. And also they changed color from light to very dark over a few months.

Around the second or third year I transitioned to taking normal multivitamins.

I have used the BariMelts Multivitamin (chewables) as well as the Bariatric Advantage Multivitamin (chewables). The BariMelts melt in your mouth, flavor is pretty decent with only a hint of a vitamin'y taste. But the Bariatric Advantage is like eating Starburst candies :)

But I still find them a little grainy, and you have to take 2, my cheap but good-- Wal-Mart prenatal only 1 and it went down easy. Always has.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
