Premier Protein – Not Premier for Bariatric Patients!

When you mix a shake up with other Protein Powder are you getting every single ounce of powder? No. Sometimes it sticks or doesn’t mix properly so I’m not sure this is so serious.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the original article? Yes, Premier Protein was sued because they lied about how much Protein was included in their protein. My article was on the TYPE of protein used. Premier uses less than 1% whey Protein Isolate. This is a serious issue, especially for weight loss surgery patients with malabsorptive procedures.

Do the bariatric pal Protein ship to the UK? Or are there any vendors that stock it here?
Theres not much variety here to be honest.

I assumed it would be, we don't have much to work with here.

What are the highest quality Proteins supplements for people on a tight budget? I buy Premier because they are pre-made and I can get it by the case at Sam’s Club at decent price point.

WPI ISOLATE best quality.

but on a budget any decent concentrate Protein will do just keep an eye on the sugar fat and carbs content!!

Has Premier corrected the problem?

I think the issue was a minor (in my opinion) misreporting of the amount of Protein, 2-5 grams less than what it said on the label. I assume it has been resolved since they issued $9 million in the class action suit. But then I give people a little too much credit sometimes. I assume so, but I don't actually know.

That is an interesting point about milk Protein concentrate and casein. I was thinking a gram or two short on the protein is not a big deal but if it is not getting absorbed by a post-bypass body it’s a big deal.

I’m actuality, Protein blends are really good for digestion. Isolate or concentrate are used quickly by the body. Casein...yes, it digests slower. It’s usually great to use before bed as the body takes longer to digest it and it provides a longer feeling of satiety.

As far as the lawsuit, having 27 as opposed to 30g of protein is not that big a difference. I would do research into more protein brands and see if they all have exactly the number they state. Is there any research out there like that. Frankly I know there are much worse brands that have only 50-60% of the actual protein they profess.

I encourage everyone to read up on what they are putting I to their body. Take what you read on message boards with a grain of salt and trust what your surgeon recommends. I mean, you let them cut you open, you can probably trust what they tell you to drink.

Alex - what about Isopure unflavored Protein power? I’m reading the label it says whey Protein & soy lecithin.

I like Isopure unflavored. The main ingredient is Whey Protein Isolate. It's good stuff.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
