Compression clothing?

Recommended Posts

So I finished C25K! I then...injured myself and was doing walking only for a bit so I could still lose weight. Now I've started C210K (not continuing since i took a month off) and it is painful to run. The belly jiggle was just embarrassing before but now legitimately hurts. Same with doing non running cardio (jumping jacks, burpees, etc.) Has anyone had this problem and tried compression clothing? Does it help?

I've always worn compression clothing even prior to WLS. Just make sure it holds you and doesn't constrict you because you are still healing (I'm assuming).

Compression clothing is SOOOOOOO helpful! You don't need to spend tons of money on them either. Yes UnderArmour is good, but overly expensive, ESP if you are still dropping weight. I've got a $55 compression shirt that's useless now because it's too big.

Amazon has stuff cheap, you can get things from overseas as well, but word of caution on that, plan ahead and get a smaller than you currently need size. I made that mistake as well and ordered what I needed, but since it took a month to arrive, it was not as supportive as it could have been.

I wear compression capri leggings to keep my stomach from jiggling. Lane Bryant sells them. I am sure other stores also sell that kind of pant. It makes a HUGE difference when I am working out and then I just have to concentrate on not passing gas instead of my belly jiggle!

I had jeggings but I guess I lost enough weight to make them just pants lol. Then again loose skin wasn't an issue when I bought them

Pretty much like a tighter shirt or leggings made of spandex. It just holds everything in just right. Think of workout clothes just a little tighter and lighter in material.

I buy ladies camisoles always 1 size smaller to help suck things in. LOL.

Compression clothing is made from materials with a strong elastic response. You want to buy them in a size smaller than you would typically wear and it pulls everything in tight against your body.

This kid is great, he went from 370 to sub 200 without surgery, he talks about excess skin and compression gear in this video

This exactly the video I thought about when I saw this question! I love obesetobeast. Really inspiring story.

I'm happy to find this about compression clothing. I have thought about getting something to help feel more comfortable walking and jogging. I just don't know whether to get pants or a shirt. It's my lower fat of my belly that smacks when I jog and that embarrasses me and is very uncomfortable.

I need a compression shirt that will go over my stomach and not roll up. Have not found a good brand yet.

Hey, I just purchased my first compression shirt from Amazon (link below) I've been wearing capri length compression leggings for a while. I found that after hard workouts, my arms were always more sore than my legs. Someone suggested compression for the muscle soreness. It works for me!

I'm also self conscious about my arms so long sleeves are nice. Pic below of the shirt on Amazon, $13. Pic of me wearing it for reference. Shirt size XL. I'm 5'5", 235lbs. I do wear a looser shirt over the top. Sizing is great. It's pretty tight across my chest & tummy but the sleeves fit perfectly. If I went up a size the sleeves wouldn't be supportive at all.

I'd buy it again and I have a couple others on my wish list to try as well.

I think I"m going to look into that shirt. I need one to feel comfortable jogging and walking. Does it help with bottom belly fat? It looks comfy

My biggest fear is putting money into something that just doesn't work. I've wasted so much money on stuff trying to get myself going in the right direction with no luck. And goodness the money on Vitamins that are horrible that are just sitting on a shelf in my kitchen or I've given to my Aunt.

Yes, it really helps with the bottom belly support. I do wear compression leggings under my sweatpants. But then I pull this shirt down over the top of my pants and it keeps everything pulled together. I like it more than I thought I would. Downside is that it's going to be too loose to be effective compression in about 15 lbs from now. Up side is that it's only $13 and I'll still be able to wear it as a gym shirt or as long underwear in the winter.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
