Had surgery 8.16 and now going into week 3 I’ve hit a stall, lost 18 lbs and haven’t lost anything! Does anyone know how long it will last , or what to do to get rid of the stall?! :(

It'll last as long as your body needs it to. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and it will break.

My three week stall has lasted about 2.5 weeks so far, not breaking yet. This is from my NUT:

Plateaus are common even after weight loss surgery and they often will happen at points where your body has wanted to stall in the past. In the first 6 months after surgery, they are usually 1-3 weeks in length. They can last even longer than that after 6 months post-op. Have faith that you are on track! Focus on how clothes are fitting and if you are losing inches more than pounds. Know that stress and poor sleep can also influence the scale in addition to diet and exercise.

Mine lasted 10 days. Then, I lost a 4 more lbs and had another stall that lasted 6 days. I've just stayed on my plan. It will happen so hang in there.

Stalls are the most frustrating part of this journey but also a necessary evil so our bodies can adjust. 18lbs is a major loss in this amount of time so try not to be too mad at your body, as it just worked really hard for you. These stalls are going to happen again and again and unfortunately there is no written rule as to how long or why, but take solace in the fact that if you are following your guidelines, your body will do remarkable things for you. Best of luck!

WOW, 18 lbs is a huge feat! Congrats.

I had the same exact problem. I stalled out almost right after surgery. I lost a substantial amount during pre op and then lost for one week post op, before a 2 week long stall.

Just focus on hitting all your goals. The sale will move. I promise you. And even if you don't lose one more pound this month, you've had tremendous success.

Thank you so much for this

I’m post op 3 weeks and the scale hasn’t moved. I’m trying so hard not to be discouraged. I’ve lost 20 pounds and then it just stoped! Stopped nothing for a week.

You aren’t alone, just try to get your liquids in and your Protein . You’ll be okay . I stalled again recently but now I’m 3 months post op, and down 44 lbs . You will stall but don’t worry you will still lose ! Just stay positive :)

Thank you! I have been really mad at my body, I just didn't think about it in those terms. I've got kidney stones and a uti so i need to just thank it for hanging in there for me instead of being upset by a stall.

Also stuck in a stall.

VGS on 12th August

Bypass on 20th August

Lost 15kg=33lbs and the scale hasn't moved for about 4 or 5 days now :)

Frustrating for us all because I think our poor brains are so wired to our past failures a stall can feel like we are failing again. Luckily we have all the long term members here who have 'been there done that' who can reassure us :)

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
