Does peanut butter make anyone else sick???

Recommended Posts

Im officially on soft foods and barely ate today so I thought a tablespoon of Peanut Butter would fill me up and give me a tiny bit of Protein. I’ve felt sick to my stomach ever since. Is peanut butter known to be a bad food for a sleeve? Thanks for any info!

I'm wondering if it's dumping from the sugar? Could also just be that your body doesn't tolerate it like it used to? Someone who has a more concrete answer, please jump in

Some foods early out simply make you feel gross and you can’t always put your finger on why. I will say I haven’t tolerated Peanut Butter since surgery 7 months ago with no plans to try again soon. It’s not a usual in my recipes so there’s really no reason for me to have it!

Just a good guess but if it is not the sugar component it could be the penunt film You might yet be able to handle the day. Yes there is that enriched Peanut Butter type granules some add to their Protein v shakes and smoothies but it has been defatted. 😯

phone transplanting words in. they are oils and fats, not films and day. You may not tolerate the fatty oil and may not for a while if ever.

Likely really high sugar content may not be a good idea

Peanut Butter made me feel sick too in the early weeks. I'm almost 10 weeks out now and can eat it now but I don't usually have it. I think it might have been the consistency that bothered me.

As others have said, maybe too high in sugar and fat for now. Might be tolerated better in another month or two. Remember that Peanut Butter and nuts in general are really calorie dense. A tablespoon of the standard peanut butter my kids eat is 100 calories. Make sure to include any portion of peanut butter in your calorie total for the day (at 2 months post op my target is 1000 calories).

I couldn't handle regular peanut butter until about 3 months out. But I did use PB2 powder in my shakes and had no problem. The sugar is very little, at 1 gram. It adds 5 grams of Protein per serving, with only 45 calories. Its also low fat compared to regular peanut butter. They have this in chocolate powder as well.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
