Hi, I'm new here. One more hole to be punched to earn my ticket to VSG in July. Looking for others who also do not eat processed foods. Avoid corn, soy, MSG and derivitives, Splenda, Equal, NutraSweet, anything hyrolyzed, autolyzed, partially hydrogenated, enriched, etc- you get the picture. food is mostly organic and homemade. I have workarounds, but always on the hunt for others. Use stevia powder, make chicken and Bone Broth, Gelatin and Lorann flavors for Jello, pudding, etc. Making an adventure out of this in my kitchen laboratory!

Same! After surgery I found myself compromising too much because of the plan

so I talked with my NUT and cut it all out again except the Protein Shakes, everything else is super clean again! So happy even working my way back to vegeterian/vegan!

Safe journey!

Thanks for your response! What kind of Protein Shakes were acceptable to you, or did you make your own using unflavored Protein Powder? I can tolerate a small amount of the commercial stuff, but not every day -- my hands and feet will itch relentlessly, then blister, ooze and take forever to heal. It truly is toxic stuff to my system. I'm not veggie or vegan, but eat as clean, non-GMO and organic as possible. I must plan ahead for deviations and weigh the risks.

The Unjury is OK, but awfully sweet tasting. I'm working on my own recipes...

I don't have food allergies but I have a Kosher diet which is super restricted so I became a vegetarian/vegan. Then just back to kosher after surgery.

So I started with several unflavored Proteins but couldn't tolerate it, I found I could only tolerate one brand so far and it's not vegetarian lol, Premier Protein, so I leave that as all the artificial ingredients I have in my diet, otherwise everything else is scratch made, well except for cheese. I can't make that... Yet lol

I just sampled Premier Clear - orange, and raspberry. My tongue got numb and swollen. Ugh. So it's back to the laboratory to tinker with more recipes. I see you are 7 months beyond surgery - was the food thing difficult in those first 8-10 weeks? How long did it take to get into a new normal with food, or are you still working that out? Seems we both have extra challenges, or maybe they are just different - everyone probably has their own unique set of issues to work out.

The difficulty was lack of hunger and capacity at that stage. I have no real problems now. If you can find a Protein powder you can use, pure plain and unflavored like Cabot whey protein you can add it to everything. I believe that one is mostly used for cooking so you can add it to Soups etc. Eventually you will be asked to try to get all if your protein requirements from food. I only have trouble with this because I still cant handle meat because I really am better off a vegetarian or some flexible version of it. So I add premade shakes to coffee to easily meet my needs.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
