I personally value Matt’s opinion, as one of the few men who regularly post. I don’t think he ever said he was smarter than anyone. He just stated the same thing that my doctor told me, which is, medication will not help if gullstones already exist.
Now, if you’ve been around the block enough, you’ll know that almost every one of us has different programs. This tells me right there that doctors do different things. I’ve personally challenged my doctor with things I’ve read on here, because I have wondered if his way was the only way. I’m just saying that, doctors aren’t always “right”. There are lots of methods to choose from.

Thanks @AshAsh1

It's not like she's a trained medical professional in one of the best hospitals in the country who's done hundreds of cases under this protocol or anything, so obviously everyone should get an extra medical procedure that their insurance may or may not cover instead.

Dude, you wonder why people don't react well to your posts  You have a lot of good insight to share but you are not smarter or more knowledgeable than my surgeon for f-ck's sake!

And wait, are you suggesting that having an Ultrasound is an “extra” medical procedure. I’d much rather my surgeon CONFIRM the diagnosis than put me on medication without knowing the real problem. And you can’t diagnose gallstones without one. Not to mention, nearly all insurance companies pay for ultrasounds, especially for diagnostic testing, it’s one of the most minimally invasive tests there are.

Anyway, back to me... 🤣

Anyone here been doing post bypass eating and then had a gallbladder out?

What changes did you make to your eating choices, once gall-bladder less??

Hope you feel better soon! Mine comes out on Monday. Not because of stones, but because it's non functioning. Has been since before my sleeve last August. just wish I knew it back then. Good luck!

Oh bummer! Post op no gallbladder and non-functioning gallbladder are the same. But what a pain, having to have another surgery! Laparoscopic I assume, so just that nasty gas to deal with. 24 hours later, I am just on paracetamol. It is manageable as surgery goes.

I’m curious as to what the doctor will prescribe for a diet afterwards? Keep us posted. I know a lot of people who have problems with certain foods once they have it removed.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
