Just curious...
When you woke up from surgery, did you have traditional stitches or did your surgeon use Dermabond?
I was very surprised to find Dermabond this time. It was so much more comfortable. No pain, no pulling, no being careful with pants or waistbands, no fear of infections...just awesome!
I’ve had four other abdominal (laparoscopic) surgeries but always woke up to traditional stitches.

I woke up to dermabond instead of stitches...Moving forward though I will ask for stitches as I found out I am allergic to dermabond. My incisions itched so bad for 3 weeks following surgery and I had a huge rash/welts around them. It was not nice...

That sounds awful. So sorry for your experience. Now you know to speak up though. Geesh!

Yeah who would've known right? No one knows you have an allergy until it happens...

You've more than likely got a combination of both. The muscles are sutured. The skin is dermabonded (typically).

I’ve had so many flipping surgeries I look like I was the leader of the baddest Soccer Mom gang in the suburbs!

Soccer Mom, I look like the worst hockey goalie in history and the whole team skated over my belly. While you go around saying Hnnh from all the soccer hits I'm Slash Mc Gurk! Oh well it could be worse, I could have fell face first off the parachute tower! Splat!

I too woke up to dermabond, but I am allergic to the ones that disolve. My incisions were so inflamed and one dehisced. I addressed it with my surgeon, so that was her route to go. Thank goodness I'm not allergic to dermabond.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. Good luck with hitting your goal, you are so close, congratulation!

I’m not sure what I have yet. I have plasters on my incisions, guess I’ll find out when the come off in the shower. They don’t scratch or itch so I’m pretty happy about that.

The weirdest thing for me is I haven’t had a poo for 3 days. I know why, it’s just weird. I don’t feel constipated at all, and have released some gas

I had steri-strips. Last week I learned they even use those to close up C-section incisions.

Really?! That might have been a bit more comfy than the 6,000 staples they used to close me up after Baby Gigantor fought his way out!

Shame you didn't come with a trapdoor like a storm celler, that way your belly would have opened with a hinge instead of the slash and cut group.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
