VSG pouch reset

Recommended Posts

What’s up guys. I had the VSG 07/31/12. Started out at 317, and lowest weight was 174. Started to work out to bulk up to 195. Well, after a little marriage misfortune (long story), and a job transfer, I got completely out of my routine, both nutrition based and working out. I moved to Lafayette, Louisiana and as you know they love to cook. Well! Marriage and career are going good, but my diet got so out of wack, I’ve gone from 195 to 236 in a 2 1/2 year period. My question for y’all is have any of you gone through the VSG pouch reset? I want to get back to under 200 again.

I don't buy into this whole "pouch reset" business. It's not a piece of hardware that needs to be reset.

Just resume the routine that worked for you in the beginning. Make a plan - work the plan. Sure, if you want to drop 10 lbs quickly and more importantly flush/cleanse your body then do a 7-10 liquid/protein diet but there is no "reset button". You have a tool and that tool is only as good as the craftsman wielding it.

Your pouch is tissue, and it can and does retract and shrink. As does pretty much EVERY part of your body if you don't keep stretching whatever it is. So, doing a "reset" so that you aren't stretching the pouch and allowing it to retract... *does* work. To what extent is going to depend on how much you've stretched it out. So, doing something as simple as the pre-surgical liquid diet, will net you some gains, how much really just depends on your situation, but still, allowing your pouch some time with no pressure, isn't going to hurt to try.

Also the pouch reset is a reset on the metabolism which really happens and helps. I have seen many variants online but the fundamental issue is the same for all, you are relearning to eat again.

Did this work? Looking to try to reset my diet. After getting my own place, eating healthy isn't always the easiest. Haven't gained, I have maintained. 2 years post op and have maintained well. Just don't want it to get to out of control. And if I can net some lbs lost in the journey, sounds like a win win.

This ^^ here. I did it about 20 months ago when I was in a stall. I did the 1 week reset and while it did help to get me out of my stall, it was harder. I found myself getting headaches and body aches over that time period. I was going to do it again at the beginning of Dec to mark my 4 year surgery anniversary. The whole thing from liquid diet fasting. But as with this any anything else related to your gut health, I would probably run it through your doctor before hand.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
