You should be drinking 64 ounces a day. 4 ounces of Fluid per HOUR. I think you have misunderstood your post surgical instructions and are getting yourself DANGEROUSLY dehydrated. Please seek help with urgent care immediately, or at the very least, start drinking 4 ounces of liquid per hour every single hour.

If you have an emergency number, call it and ask for clarification.

I've upped it to 6 ounces but when I take the Protein I'm told that's it for the hour. I try to get started early in the day but it never seems to stop me being thirsty. ( living in Florida where it's constantly warm/ not) probably doesn't help ☹

How many ounces of fluids per day total are you drinking?

If you're getting 64 ounces in per day, that's good...you might need more fluids if it's very hot there. You should ask about this.

When is your next recheck with labs? Are you diabetic, by any chance?

If I were you...I would err on the side of drinking extra Water for hydration until you can discuss your thirst with your doctor.

At a week out...I was told it was ok to drink all the water I wanted as long as I was sipping and not gulping.

You may need extra water in that heat.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
