June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Recommended Posts

Doing well so far. 36 lbs since surgery 6/21. Wish it was higher but can’t be sad over 63 lbs total since last Christmas when I broke 300 on the scale 🙄 looking forward to Disney World the end of this month and not worrying about fitting in any rides. Knock on wood, absolutely no issues so far. No dumping, no foods that haven’t agreed with me. Getting my fluids in fine every day. Blood pressure doing well and hope to be off meds by this Christmas. Wish had enough room to eat a huge salad and still have a serving of Protein with it, but patience is the key. Need to start some serious resistance training, build up the muscles under the beginning sagging skin. But the future is bright :)

Hey Snapple!

I’ve been out of the June Sleevers loop lately (6/5 down 35 pounds). Sounds like you are doing great! I am at a weird plateau & have been for a few weeks. And I’m feeling like I’ve gotten right back into all of the old bad habits I had for 30 years! I’m so disappointed in myself because everything went so well with the surgery & I felt great losing the weight! So much more energy, getting back into clothes I haven’t worn in years! I was so hopeful. But in the last few weeks everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong. And my entire life focus has had to change again.

My parents - aged 90 & 87 are needing more & more care & even tho we hired an aide, things just keep getting worse. Both have dementia & Mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer. So I’m trying to get them into assisted living, get my Mom’s cancer plan in place, constantly taking them to doctors appointments, working full time, (I just got a promotion!) take care of my family, and I’ve had absolutely no time to plan, track my food, exercise, or take care of me! I feel like I never even had surgery! I do get full fast but if I just wait a while, I can eat again. I’ve starting grazing again! And, just like before, I wake up every morning & say, “Today is the day! I’ll start again. “ and like before, it doesn’t happen. Arghhh I am so mad at myself!

Anyway, sorry to be a bummer! I think I need to get back into this blog & eat like I did after surgery. Maybe some encouragement will help!

keep up your great work!

Surgery 6/11/18 down 40 since pre-op. 28 since surgery. 2 lbs away from being overweight rather than obese. It has not been easy sailing though. Still struggling with edema, but it is improving, Thyroid problems, TSH dropped to .03, but T3 and T4 are normal. Lost more muscle than I hoped, but lifting weights and getting steps in on good days. Getting in all Protein and Water, so I am guessing the muscle loss is related to thyroid issues. Waiting for appointment with endocrinologist. I actually probably eat more than I am supposed to, but have not eaten anything processed (with the exception of restaurant food? ) or not on the approved list. I wanted to do some Soups, but I have to keep the sodium down. Darn menopause....I am still hoping to reach goal weight around Christmas time.

Gosh, I'm sorry to hear that you have so much going on. Hopefully once you get your parents taken care of things might slow down for a bit? You really can do it!!!!

For me, I've found out that walking is the key. I got a Fitbit and I seriously walk as much as I can. I started at a simple 4000 steps per day and upped it every week until now where I'm currently at 9000. It does take some time, but for awhile I could complete most of this within 30 minutes as I did a few thousand and then when I added the steps I do just in a normal day, I would hit my goal. I've found that the best time to do this is in the morning. If there is any way for you to work this into your day, you won't regret it. And this is the most physical activity I've had in 10 years since I have Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Honestly, you look like a completely different person & I mean that people who knew you before surgery probably don’t even recognize you!

You look awesome!! I'm having the gastric bypass only because it's better for my acid reflux otherwise I'd have the sleeve. This is very motivating.

How did you guys bust out of wls stale? I’m nearly 3 months post op and I’m still at 22 lbs since day of surgery. Trying to break out of the plateau. Any tips would be fantastic :)

I’ve had a few stalls since surgery 6/21, one lasted 3 weeks. Down 42 so far. Just have patience, it’ll kick in again. Make sure you’re staying at 64 Oz or more on fluids and at least 60g on Protein. Can try and raise those more to see if helps or maybe add in some extra carbs for a couple days. But make them healthy ones. Make sure you’re also getting enough calories and aren’t going too low. Good luck!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
