1 year 5 mos out and I'm gaining

Recommended Posts

Had my bypass done in dec 16. I have done awesome! I quit everything I was supposed to. I take my Vitamins and drink my Protein. 130 is my ideal weight and I had stayed there for several months. I had an ulcer and didn't know it so I spent a week in the hospital in Feb. I left the hospital at 127. Took me March and April to get back to 130 (I wasn't trying to gain I was just ok with it). I have struggled a bit with alcohol so I cut it out completely. And gain 3 lbs in a week!!! I'm sad, what am I going to do now that I'm really healthy, no ulcer, no alcohol, I gain??!!! I know that foods gave snuck back in and my brain knows what I need to do but why does it have to be so damn hard??!?

i wouldn't go calling the authorities over 3lbs. i crap three pounds.

unless you somehow managed to overeat 10,500 calories over your BMR last week alone... (hint: you didn't)... it's just Water weight and your body still adjusting. remember, it's common after reaching your lowest weight (usually about 1.5 years after surgery) to gain about 5% back before settling on THAT new weight as your long term set point.

in other words - keep up the not drinking, follow the 80% principle, and try to relax and practice acceptance.

Thanks! I will do just that. I just needed a little perspective I guess.

Set your "Oh sh*t! Panic Meter" at 5 lbs. If you're at the top of your window, go back to basics and hone down until you're back at your goal. I truly think from observing the vets who are 3-4+ years out, that these people maintain without a gain. And make it look easy. We know though, it really isn't easy lol. ;)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
