Anyone stay on shakes for meal times longer than first couple weeks?

6 months out, have 4 Premier Protein shakes daily (9am-12pm-3pm-6pm) as my major primary meals + have one small veggie lunch (around 1:30pm), which is fully packed with dense Fiber. My dietician approves that. Don't care much about the latest "anti-DATEM campaign", as a single fastfood burger has 100 times more crap in it, and we used to eat that sh*t a lot. So all damages are already caused! ))

Right now I'm feeling well, losing weight steadily, also doing daily 40-50 minutes fat-burning cycling at the gym).

The reason I decided to stick with my shakes is that after the sleeve I feel some discomfort with all types of meats (beef, pork, fish, chicken etc), while Beans and legumes are bit too gasy :) With my Protein Shakes I feel fit and full, while still low on calories and high in Protein.

Great news, however, information is information whether you like or not, please do not dismiss quality information with your ignorance, perhaps you have grown comfortable blowing **** out your mouth on the internet which is another conversation. The hydrogenated oils used in those Protein Drinks clogs arteries and the FDA banned it, enjoy your cheeseburger drink.

More campaign information:

Compliance Dates of Nutrition Initiatives

FDA received questions about the timing of the compliance dates for its various nutrition initiatives and their impact on food manufacturers and is providing the following questions and answers.

When do manufacturers need to comply with FDA’s key nutrition initiatives?

The key dates are as follows:

  • By June 18, 2018, human food must no longer contain partially hydrogenated oils for uses that have not been otherwise authorized by FDA.
  • FDA has issued a proposed rule to extend the compliance dates for the Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts label final rule and the Serving Size final rule from July 26, 2018, to Jan. 1, 2020, for manufacturers with $10 million or more in annual food sales. Manufacturers with less than $10 million in annual food sales would receive an extra year to comply—until Jan. 1, 2021. Pending completion of this rulemaking, FDA intends to exercise enforcement discretion with respect to the current July 26, 2018, and July 26, 2019, compliance dates.
  • By July 26, 2018, vending machine operators with glass front vending machines will have to comply with all requirements of the vending machine labeling rule. FDA delayed the compliance date for calorie declaration requirements for certain food products sold from glass-front vending machines in part to be consistent with the compliance date for the new Nutrition Facts label requirements so that manufacturers can make changes to front-of-pack labeling for products they supply to vending operators at the same time that they make changes to the Nutrition Facts label.

How do menu labeling requirements impact packaged food manufacturers?

The requirements for menu labeling largely affect a different segment of industry—restaurants and similar retail food establishments. We do not expect these requirements to have a great impact on manufacturers. Those establishments that are covered by the menu labeling rule must comply with menu labeling requirements by May 7, 2018.

What about the targets for sodium reduction that FDA is developing?

The targets for sodium reduction that FDA is developing are voluntary so there will be no compliance date. However, we are recommending timeframes for companies that choose to implement the targets, once finalized. FDA has published for public comment draft voluntary targets for reducing sodium in commercially processed and prepared food both in the short-term (2 years) and over the long-term (10 years).

I do one a day, mainly because I don’t feel like bringing two shaker bottles to work. I should have a second one at home after work because I’m not meeting my Protein goals without it. I also don’t drink any shakes on the weekend.

I plan to keep drinking them too. I'd also been drinking them for breakfast for about a year and a half before my surgery. (Gold Standard whey Protein Powder, extreme milk chocolate)

I still drink them too, however, I will continue to monitor what the manufactures put in these so-called health foods because, in reality, the chemicals they use sometimes are bad like "Fructose corn syrup" for example found in sodas, salad dressings, etc., our bodies simply do not recognize these foreign chemicals and automatically process them into fat.

Fructose... as in the sugar naturally found in fruits? I have far worse things than that to worry about, good grief.

I have a little cognitive disconnect with the Premier Protein drinks. They are the main ones that my body tolerates the best since it has both casein and whey in it. I don't have as bad of an insulin response with them. So I close my eyes and pray the DATEM stuff isn't that bad in the grand scheme of life. LIke I doubt my tombstone will ever read:

It Wat The DATEM Wat Got Her...

Fluffy, I was only passing the information as information only, that particular brand of Protein Shake is the only one that uses that ingredient. For example, the continued debate that Marijuana can be used for medical purposes today, how can you pass something off (a drug for medical purposes) and you smoke it? How is this healthy, when you are destroying your lungs?

Marijuana doesn't have to be smoked to get it's benefits. It can be eaten as well.

Oh man, no! I hear ya! I was pissed about it when I first found out. You know? Cuz I do honestly prefer to eat clean stuff when possible. And I was like, seriously? Sneaky bastards!

LOL, so I compromised cuz I wanted it. But now days, since it's hardly worth the time to make other things like sauces and stuff that are complex, I find myself compromising on them too! Cuz, you know...why make a complex sauce just to eat 1-2tbsp of it. So I skimp and compromise on ingredients AND taste, just so I don't have to make it. So it's a slippery slope and so I had to retire my food purist hat. Now I am afraid I'm a mid-hedonist. :D

I'm 5 months post op. I make a smoothie/shake for breakfast Monday-Friday. I mix 1 scoop Protein powder with Water and typically some sort of fruit. Right now it's 1 scoop protein, water, 3 strawberries, and a cup of kale. :) It's convenient, so that's why I stick with it. And my body doesn't typically want "real food" until way after I get to work. This helps me meet my liquid requirements too.

Honestly, since I'm hardly eating any "real food" I've got to be chock full of chemicals. Between Protein Shakes, Protein Water, sugar-free non-fat yogurt, Crystal Light, turkey bacon, light mayo, high protein Snacks, etc. I'm not sure that I'm actually eating "healthier" at all :(

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
