Not really. There is a layer of Water between you and the suit that helps keep you warm. The pee just mixes in with that and is largely gone pretty soon after.

I'm trying to decide whether that makes it sound better... :grouphug: LOL

Beth-congrats

Fanny- Holy effing crap. I would vomit being up that high.

PJTP- my boss is a canoe. And by canoe I mean a word that rhymes with punt.

Ba! Cackled out loud with that one!

I'm going to compile a reply to the laundry list - I have an answer for most everything they mentioned - and in the meantime, I've spruced up my resume and am looking for another position within the university.

Just make sure if you do decide to put something in writing, that you really REALLY scrutinize what you put down and check it 14x for what could be perceived as attitude. I might go as far as to ask the union rep or a trusted (non-work) friend to review the verbiage.

Hopefully by the time my 1 year anniversary arrives (early June) I'll be moving to a new position and a happier, healthier work environment!

Believe and achieve. Keep the positive attitude!!! Let the past be the past and think toward a better future with better folks!

Except for the lingering smell!! :grouphug:

HYSTERICAL!!!!!!! The idea of swimming in a river with a bunch of other people kicking around my head doesn't sound like my idea of fun. But as my father says, "but that's why they make chocolate ice cream b/c not everyone likes vanilla"!

PJTA(sk) - why am I so enthralled with prison shows? I don't mean city jail; I mean where they house major criminals like at Corcoran Prison in Cali. I'm going to go with appreciating what I have!

PJTP - Why does it rain on Saturdays???

Cuz Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor.

We're supposed to do a Hot Laps thingie today -- where you get into a race car and they do a "drift" with you (where they skid sideways). I doubt we'll be driving by the time we get there.

It's being hosted through Marlboro. Guess DH's smoking comes in good for something... :scared2:

I am now cleaing my kitchen so that I can mess it up again. MIL came over to bum more cigs.:scared2: While here, she offered to help clean. But the question is: is she capable of cleaning and doing a good job? 'Cause if she is, I'd use her...about time you got something good outta the woman!

pjtp - hi... :)

Yahoo - LJM is back....

HEY!!!! YOU BEEN MISSED!! I know you're doing stuff like, oh I dunno, raising a baby an' stuff, but we need you to check in periodically! Hrumph! lol!

What she said!!!

OK - So yesterday instead of playing in the dirt, I went to a garden center, spent money I don't have on things for the garden. And nope, not pretty flowers - I've got to get the land ready first. So, lots of earth, mulch, and a new lawnmower.

Overnight there was frost, so it will be a while before I head outside...brrr!!! I have hired my nephew to be my 'assistant' for the day - 6'4" of huge muscles (and appetite). He is going to spend the day doing hard physical labor...

Made a new recipe for a white choc cake yesterday...a failure! I swear some recipes are never tested before being included in cookbooks or online. DH suggested the birds, or other wildlife might enjoy it - such a colossal waste of good ingredients...BAH!! Going to make another cake now...and maybe some squares...date? Peanut Butter? apricot cream cheese? hmmmmm, guess I will wait to see what inspires me when I get to the kitchen.. Catch you all later

Peeing in the wet suit is mandatory. But people still pee while riding their bikes on the longer races. Yuck. I don't want to win that badly. I'll use a porta-potty.

Oh YUCK! I simply cannot imagine doing that...YUK!

I'm having trouble at work too. I don't like to talk about work in public though. You never know who is reading.

Ya gotta point, Mac...hope your situation resolves itself in your favor soon.

PJTP - Why does it rain on Saturdays???

My dear departed MIL (no sarcasm - really did love her to bits) said it never rains all day on Saturday, 'cause if it did, we'd have an excuse to not go to church on Sunday. I've seen days that were cloudy and drizzly all day, but not an all-day rain...things that make you go hmmm

Cuz Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor.

Yeah, she does...

Hey losingjusme!

I jumped in here for just a minute - finishing up a very nice, busy and productive weekend.

Gardening on Saturday - pulled out a bunch of stuff, planted a whole lot more stuff...now my hamstrings are sore (but in a good way)! Saw 'Angels and Demons' over the weekend - good movie. Love Tom Hanks in the role of scholar and symbologist (new word from the movie).

Hope everyone's weekend was great!

PJTP: Okay, who here thinks it's ridiculous to pay $550 for shots for two dogs??? I only got the necessary stuff (bloodwork for heartworm meds, rabies, lyme, and one other for bacteria) -- no bordatella (?) or anything exotic. I about had a conniption when I got to the counter!!! I'm seriously thinking about having a major "coming to Jesus" talk with somebody there (I haven't paid yet)!

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

      1. NickelChip

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
