May 2nd here as well SmileyMay! (though will be about a half day ahead of you here in Aussie land) [emoji4]
*I'm not sure why my ticker is displaying May 1st*

(copied below what I pasted in the April/May thread too)
I'm jumping in here now as I just got my date today! 2 May 2018 is my surgery date, and have started my pre-op phase immediately as they would ideally have liked me on the pre-op diet for 4 weeks with my BMI so close to 50.

Kids will be back at school that week after the 2 week term holiday, and hubby will be taking a week and a half off to manage the kidlets (6 & 9 years) while I'm in hospital and my first few days at home.

Any other Aussies in here? I'm in Adelaide and going with Dr Michael France at Ashford Specialist Centre.

I am so crazy excited, and glad I'm not having to jump through insurance hoops and lengthy delays like so many US sleevers.

I will have to stick with just lean meats/protein and veggies today and tomorrow until my formulite Meal Replacements arrive by post (can't have Optifast as aspartame and other artificial sweeteners trigger nasty Migraines for me), then 2 shakes and one lean meat & veg meal a day until 2 days before surgery, only shakes the last day before surgery.

*does jiggly happy dance*

Hi i am an Aussie too. I'm in Canberra. I think south Australia close in time 2 us. I'm so excited to be slim again. Last time i was able to get slim i was early 30's. I am sad and dissapointed that I've spent a lot of my younger yrs looking overweight but at least I'm doing something now. In time for a looking nice in a swimsuit for next summer i hope.

Thanks. It will be so exciting to watch how all us may sleevers go. Maybe we can do a 1st of the month photo update for whoever feels brave enough. I get so much motivation from other people's photos of weight loss. It may also give motivation and keep me honest and healthy in my food choices.

Yes, i want to keep focused on my progress, and happy to do monthly photo updates.

i had my first formulite Meal Replacement shake yesterday and tummy did not like it (queasy for nearly 2 hours afterwards, and gurgly upset tummy that evening). I'm hoping my tummy just needs time to adjust. this morning had just half a honeycomb shake mixed with some cooked rolled oats and cinnamon and though didn't much like the taste, i only felt slightly off afterwards. Going to try the choc-hazelnut shake made really thick with icy Water and crushed ice in a bit (had some slow cooked turkey with some smashed avo for lunch).

Im a natural foods and cook from scratch kinda person (intolerant to a lot of additives in processed food) and have a big veggie patch, so liquids phase is going to be really tough for me if i cant adapt to meal replacement/protein powders. I have some unflavored/unsweetened uprotein brand Protein Powder on its way to me and am hoping it mixes well into my homemade chicken stock for Protein boosted healthy Soups.

has everyone got their bariatric Vitamins planned? My bariatric physician recommended aussie brand www.bnmulti.com who do chewable bariatric Multivitamins and Calcium tablets, and now Multivitamin capsules too. I'm planning to get a months worth of the chewable multis, then the capsules from one month out. If you are still having 2 Meal Replacements a day in liquid phase dont need to start vitamins until you start purees. If the unflavoured protein mixes well in my soups it be mostly having those post op i think, so will need extra vitamins.

Beyond pre-op dietary changes, what else is everyone up to between now and surgery day? My kids start school holidays after tomorrow and my sons 6th birthday party is this saturday (no major stress for me as its at a lollipops playland play centre and they manage all the food there and the icecream cake so no birthday cake baking/decorating stress for me.)

if the weather moderates (just had hottest April day ever at about 36 degrees C, weird for mid autumn) will hopefully drag the kids out with me for some walks. I still need to plant my garlic, onions and carrots (delayed by hot weather and then weeks of migraines) and want to get a few other things tidied in the veggie patch before i go into surgery.

ive also made overnight a fresh batch of 20 hour slow cooked chicken stock and will make some Soups and some purees to freeze for post op, and some veggie soups for this preop stage. Also freezing a few meals for hubby and kids since im the only one who cooks (tuna mornay, savoury mince for tacos, spag bol, roasted chicken wings etc).

Edit: Oh yeah, and I picked up like 12kg of lovely fuji apples for $2/kg last week - am going to stew up a heap of those with cinnamon and freeze for puree and soft solids stages.

Sounds like me taoz. Have to provide food etc to my hubby and 2 boys. It can be stressful when u don't need to be tempted by food preop and are dealing with own diet postop. Trying to get organized and freeze things. My boy turned 6 in March and we did flip out this yr. Worth every cent I think. The heat here is still like Summer. I am looking forward to Autumn if it ever arrives but we had family from Ireland so they loved the heat. I have to start freezing some more meals now myself or i know my kids would live on Red Rooster. I am very particular with my kids diet and like them to eat lots of veges and salad.< br>

yep, I don't like to think about what my kids diet for the week would be like if I didn't prepare meals ahead for them. will be hard enough getting hubby to manage school lunches.

Yep i get nauseous easily too so i went with Bodiez unflavoured protien water powder and plan to add to soups water etc. Scared about vitamins so have gone chewable and will take late arvo as i couldn't even tolerate multivitamin during pregnancies. Do those calcium tablets give nausea? I haven't tried them yet and they look huge.
Need to get Biotin also for my hair. My dietician starts vitamins in preop diet but it will give me time to work out a routine and if i can't tolerate them for a couple weeks post op it hopefully won't matter too much.

I get sleeved May 9. I am a bit scared of being put under, afraid of not waking up.

Hi. I understand it's something we all worry about. I can reassure you as a theatre nurse I have so rarely seen this occur. A car accident is way more likely. Saying that I worry also and think it's totally normal.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
