What carb count should I stay below in the 6 weeks post surgery?

Okay, I'm glad you told me that. I bought these "single serving" instant mash potato cups by Idahoan that literally take 1 minute to microwave for mushy goodness. It's 40 carbs and I ate one over about a two hour period. :( I knew it was probably not a good thing to eat. And the recommended serving size in my surgery booklet say 2 tablespoons. Wuhhh? I can eat way more than that. :( I've always had a problem stopping eating, so this is obviously something I have to change right now. Ughhhhh.

Focus on your Protein goal. It will help with the sensation of full.

I honestly don't get the 2tbsp satisfaction thing either. I'm 1 week ahead of you.

I get in 2oz of dense Protein + 1oz veg easily. I'm getting <20g including everything p drinks and Vitamins. I've no idea what my surgeon is gonna say when I see her this week for my 1mo. check-up.

Programs are all so different. Kinda...stunningly...different!

My program (at least in the liquid/puree/soft stages) doesn't have carb limits/ranges (or fat or calories for that matter), just Protein. It's all highly dependent on your program. For example, mashed potatoes was a suggested food for me in the puree/soft stages (haven't reached regular yet but I think it is there, too).

My plan is high carbs, but they're low glycemic carbs with good Protein content like whole grains, Beans, etc. I pretty much follow the mayo clinic diet...which is similar to Mediterranean.

My group serves a diverse community of people from all over the world, lot of vegans and vegetarians...so we have a lot of options.

I think high protein Keto diets produce the fastest weight loss and some folks tolerate them really well. (wish I did, but I don't)

My group stresses keeping the calories at 1000-1200 per day, 60+g of protein, lots of exercise, lots of Water, eat simple. We do a lot of fruit and veggies and whole grains and beans.

My surgeon said to stay around 50g, but since i'm following (modified) keto/low carb, I stay around 20-25g or less.

Congrats on your weight loss! Do you feel okay energy wise? Are you working out rigorously too?

Yes, I feel great; though days where I don't drink much Water I do feel lightheaded. I do at least 30 mins of cardio a day! I'm not working out too hard due to the fact that I'm not eating enough calories yet. I average between 800-1000!

My programs is 50g or less during the prior to 9 months post op and then 50-100 grams post 9 months and right around 100-120 grams in maintenance.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
