I make this slow cooker crustless pizza regularly. This weekend, I made it with ground turkey instead of sausage or beef, but I mixed in some mushrooms to improve the taste/texture. It worked out well and was lower cal and a bit lighter.

It's been 10 months since my surgery and I will l not touch pizza. Sometimes if my family has pizza I'll just eat some of the cheese off a piece. Pizza is not my friend. Looks good tho!

The Crock Pot pizza is also pretty cheap to make, at least compared to the specialized crust or frozen options.

That pizza casserole looks delicious! We are going to try it next week with ground turkey instead of beef.

Ive also noticed that I’m able to eat a homemade personal pizza with a low-carb crust just fine and, when dining out, a cracker crust will do me nicely.

Can someone with the recipes start a new thread, maybe pizza alternatives ?so that the community can have access, someone may skip this one because of the name and that's unfortunate because the alternate recipes are amazing
Thanks

How many weeks out before you were able to eat pizza...btw that looks delicious. I'm 6 weeks post op

I ate pizza and anything else I could tolerate starting about 2 weeks post op. I ate cheese and crackers, pizza, fried chicken, and you name it. It may have only been 2 bites that I chewed forever, but if I wanted it I ate it. I still do that now. I have to watch how much I eat and I have to pay attention to Protein intake but I never damaged my sleeve, "stretched" it, caused a tear or hole in my sleeve, and I did just fine.

I also make a super easy pizza using a small non-stick omelet pan.

Real Pan Pizza

Makes 2-4 servings

1 to 2 oz part skim mozzarella, grated (or reduced fat grated cheese)

1/8c low carb/sugar marinara

favorite toppings

Parmesan cheese

Red pepper flakes

Don't grease your omelet pan but make sure it's non-stick.

Loosely sprinkle in about 1 to 2oz freshly grated mozzarella cheese. Heat over medium high heat. When it starts to melt, sprinkle on granulated garlic and dried basil/oregano or Italian blend spices. Top with your favorite toppings and dot with about 1/8c of the lowest carb marinara possible.

Cover pan with a lid, reduce heat to med low and let everything cook 3-5 minutes. Gently lift an edge of the cheese up. It should be dark brown! If it is. Remove lid. Remove from heat and let it sit for a minute. Slide pizza onto plate. Blot extra grease. Top with Parmesan and red pepper flakes. Cut and enjoy!

The cheese makes its own crust. It's super quick/easy. Just don't stir it around or play with it while it's cooking. Part skim mozz works best for this cuz it's lower in fat. But cheddar will also work for taco pizzas, you just have to blot it more, cuz it will swim in fat--unless you use reduced fat cheeses by maybe Sargento?

The cauliflower crust one from Trader Joe’s is actually pretty good! My kids didn’t even notice when I gave them some. Satisfied that pizza goodness!

Be careful and read the label!!! I was surprised how many carbs are in the TJ Cauliflower crust! They add corn flour, corn starch and potato starch! Most of the home made recipies have just cauliflower and cheese, so far lower in carbs

I’ve made the fathead pizza easily about 20 times in the last couple of years while I was on Keto. Can honestly say this tastes even better than original bread crust and it’s extremely filling. Highly recommend. Haven’t tried it yet after WLS, will wait until at least 6 months to make it again because it is higher in fat.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
