I had some of the same concerns about eating so little. I see people who claim to only eat a bite or two, a year and more out of the surgery. I’ve seen people talk about only eating 500-600 calories a year out. I don’t want that life, but I also have people in my family who have had the surgery and know that it is not the norm. My brother in law is 6 months out and eats small portions, but nothing so small that it looks odd to other people. He still goes to restaurants and will maybe eat 1/3 of his meal, and have the rest for lunch the next few days. He talks about how he craves healthier foods now but will occasionally have a treat if he gets his Protein in first. He is definitely eating at least 1200 calories a day, especially when he works out.

You are ten days out and still healing. It will get better, and although I haven’t had the surgery yet, I’ve been lucky enough to watch the journey pretty closely.

This is late and you probably have it sorted by now but my doc's office told me to sip 1 ounce over 15 mins. They gave me little cups to use. The first couple of days that was tiresome but I stuck with it because I wanted to make sure to get my Protein and not get dehydrated. I did not want to go back to the hospital and/or die. Now I can drink pretty regularly just more slowly than I would have before surgery. If you are still having issues, try the sipping over 15 mins and see if that helps.

Also, keep reminding yourself WHY you did this to begin with. I am smaller than some others here, but at my height I was too big and I had aches and pains, sleep apnea, and other issues were on the horizon. I had lost weight countless times before but never kept it off. I didn't want to get my health in some dire situation that I couldn't come back from so I chose this surgery. I feel SO MUCH better (though I am ready to chew something :)) and can see how this new lifestyle will benefit me in so many different ways. Stay focused on the goal. Good luck!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
