Do you miss being overweight?

After taking out all the health issues you may have had. Do you just miss your body?

Hmm ***let me take a moment for introspection. My fat was a protective cocoon, an invisabity cloak (we all know fat people are invisible to the average person) a warm blanket that kept me safe and protected from those that would hurt me. I was insulated and isolated. But a new spring is coming, I can peel off the layer of restrictive flesh from my body. I'll dance in the sunlight of good health. It may be a struggle, it may take awhile, but the trade-off for me is more than worth it. And I suspect I won't miss it at all.

No, I cannot even begin to appreciate how much more free I feel! From just the general bounce and energy to feeling more comfortable in life. I can travel now without being worried about literally not fitting somewhere. I wouldn't trade a thing!

No ?!!! Never.. I'm confused by the question. Why would I miss 76lbs of fat? I'm still desperate to get rid of the last 30.

I invested in some pretty expensive clothes / coats because I thought i would be that size forever. When I had to give them away I had a small moment when I wished I could still fit them. Other than that no.

I never had body hatred. At 270, I never really minded how I looked. I've always felt like I looked pretty good. I was fat...so what? I liked me.

But the health issues are HUGE. Mobility issues, risk for diabetes and cancer...

And here's the big one....energy.

I LOVE the energy I have now. I can carry all the groceries in without panting. I can zip up a few flights of stairs. I can trot down to the mailbox, or haul some trash down without even thinking about it (which is saying something, cause my driveway is nearly a quarter of a mile long)

Do I miss being fat? Not even a little.

LOL! I don’t miss being obese, I miss being able to eat whatever I want and whenever I want. Still wouldn’t reverse this surgery for the world. I love being able to walk into any clothing store and try things on, I love getting complimented EVERY TIME I leave the house, I love getting hit on by guys when I go to a restaurant, bar or even the gym. I love that my family is happy for me. I love that I am now healthy.

NOPE! I love being at a normal BMI lol

I love being able to go to every and any store, knowing something WILL fit me. That and walking in to a family dollar or Walmart to buy a bra without even batting an eye or killing my poor wallet.

Wouldn't reverse this surgery for the world. Nope, never. Obesity sucks cans.

I am puzzled by the question because why would anyone really like being fat? It is abject misery - every day is a social, physical, and mental challenge. I can't wait for this problem to be over and done with.

Do I miss trying to get onto a ride with my family only to realize I'm so big I couldn't go with them? No. No I don't miss that effing body at all.

How about when you do manage to sit in a almost too small chair, you get back up and it makes an embarrassing sucky noise. Happened to me more than once with a plastic one.

So my initial thought was nope never.

Even after reading the above introspection about losing the invisibility, i can certainly identify with that, but I don’t MISS the invisibility, I enjoy being seen.

But I thought some more and what I DO miss is the power that came with my substantial body. At almost 300 pounds no one could physically overpower me. I had an amount of strength that came with the size that no amount of yoga and running can replicate. I feel stronger in many ways, don’t get me wrong, but I occasionally miss the power of sheer brute size. For example when running alone on a deserted road and I see a parked car with a man inside. I worry in a way I never did before.

So yeah. But would I chance it for what I’ve gained? No way!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
