Don’t even sweat it. The surgery is a breeze. The hard part will be life after surgery. I was terrified of the surgery and it was a cake walk. Life after surgery has been a ****** now that I can’t abuse food anymore.

It's only natural to have trepidations before surgery. The majority here had them. Just get walking as soon as you can it will help you recover faster.

I was scared too. I am telling you surgery will be the easy part. All you have to do is show up and get your IV started. The rest is easy, you wake up in recovery. Then the hard part begins. Life after WLS is harder than I expected. It is getting easier but still hard. I wanted pizza and wings tonight for the super bowl and had to fight the urge to order it.

I see being scared as a good thing. That means you know what is at stake and the changes you are about to embark on. If someone wasn’t scared, I would be worried. [emoji3]

Congratulations, your surgery day is almost here. You've had consultations from various doctors; possibly been put on a CPAP machine; had nutrition appointments and followed a nutrition plan; carried on despite frustrations and exhaustion; and followed a pre-op liquid diet. All of your hard work and dedication has now gotten you to the day you never thought would ever come.

After my surgery, I thought that if I had known how well surgery would go and how much easier it was than what I thought, I wouldn't have been as anxious. One thing that was nice is that my anxiety began turning to excitement as the prep nurses were getting me ready for surgery. It all went really well. And it's a good possibility you may have a good experience too.

I was sore and I used a rectangular-shaped ice pack the first couple of days. I had gas pain which is tough. In case you don't know, it can move to other parts of the body not just sit in the bowels. My shoulder and upper back were feeling awful. Walking did help with the gas. After the first 2 days, I just kept improving.

Wishing you an "easier" surgery and recovery. Keep us posted.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
