Has anyone tried a boba drink after being sleeved?

I love them, but they're incredibly awful for you. Pure carbs. One fourth cup has about 130 calories.....from the syrups, to the milk to the tapioca pears...it's a carbohydrate overload. Worse, it's all high glycemic carbs that will make you spike like crazy and have massive rebound hunger.

I'll miss them. If I'm ever with a friend who is drinking one, I might take a sip....but they're like eating candy.

From a safety standpoint would they be ok? You are almost guaranteed to get nauseated by too much sugar too fast.(think dumping syndrome) You'd need to chew up each pearl really well, cause I can see them being a clogging hazard.

My advice? Don't run this experiment until several months out. Better still....have a sip of your friend's and try to find a replacement. They're horrible for you.

It's a Taiwanese drink made of tea, milk, fruit Syrup, or flavored syrups like chocolate, hazelnut, etc. Sometimes they have candied pieces of fruit in them, but most often they have little tapioca "pearls" in them....that are like round Gummy bears. LOL. And when you drink the tea and those weird little gummies pop through the oversized straw...it's quite delightful.

Think of like a fancy sugary tea at Starbucks...with a pile of round gummy bears in it that you drink through a huge straw.

I have a tea company (among other businesses) so I always have tea on hand and using skim plus, black tea, and some of the sugar free coffee syrups you can get pretty close to the traditional iced milk tea they use for the base. I haven't tried it, but pinterest seems to have a lot of people who swap their tapioca pearls out for Chia seeds (whatever those are).

Just an update and this is a fresh batch (that needs to soak for a few hours), but chia seeds while not a perfect substitute for tapioca do turn into something similar after soaking them in your tea mixture (like small tapioca pearls with a strawberry seed in the middle). Worked out pretty well. This mix was made with Oolong tea, Skim Milk, and two tablespoons of vanilla almond sugar free coffee Syrup.

I was wondering if the boba balls are ok to have. I use the boba flavors Protein Powder with out them cause I wasn’t sure if we can have the tapioca - FIT BITES has a sample pack

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
