Anyone not need plastic surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering how many people need plastic surgery after the gastric sleeve. I am 5’6 and weigh 235, and I am starting the process for gastric sleeve. I am realistic that a little skin sag may be a possibility, but I am worried about drastic skin sag and my insurance not covering any needed surgery.

I am 37 years old and my goal weight is 140-150, so I would be looking at around 80 pounds. I’ve lost weight before and never had the loose skin, but I am older now and the weight loss would be much faster. I am also a teacher so plastic surgery will never but in my budget, lol.

Has anyone lost a lot of weight and not needed surgery afterwards for skin?

I started out *way* bigger than you. I have it, but it's very easy to hide. No one knows it's there except for me, my husband, and my doctor. You're starting out much lighter than I did, so you most l likely won't have as much as I do. Of course, *you'll* see it and it might bother you, but other people probably won't. So having plastic surgery will most likely be a choice rather than a necessity (well, that's true in my case, too..)

I'm 49 (had surgery at 45) 5'5" lost 100 pounds. Initially had major sags and wrinkles in my face, jowls, neck, upper arms, belly, butt and legs. My face, neck and arms tightened up nicely within a year. I Probably look older with the lines on my face than I did with chubby cheeks, though. Still have Looseness on my belly, but not too bad that I'm not afraid to show it off. Below my waist is a disaster. My ass skin is on my thighs and my thigh skin in on my knees. Despite wearing size 5/6 jeans, shorts and skirts are not a part of my wardrobe. :) But I'll take saggy skin over smooth fat any day!

In the beginning I was worried about my arms and belly but then as time passed by, I stopped losing drastically and started exercising regularly. I am seeing a significant difference in those areas. I think you should give it time to snap back before you consider surgery.

I have had the same concern. I am 5'6 and weight 244. I want to get down to 148 and I am wondering if there is a way to get the weight off and tighten at the same time. I am only 28 so maybe that will help me. Will working out and strength training help with the sagging?

I am now 239 but when I was younger and weighed 169, I still had curves but also a flat stomach. I was super fit and weight lifting did wonders for my shape (also contributed to the higher weight for my size). I still work out a few times a week but I am really changing my focus to lifting for the next few months. I also don’t want to go below 150, so that might help me. I expect some skin but I am also going to be proactive in the weight room.

My boobs are sagging after losing 50kg so far. Belly and arms are fine so far. I could use a boob job but can't afford it.

Oh yeah, forgot about my boobs. Picture two tennis balls dangling in a couple of socks. Went from a 44DD to 34 A/B. I really wouldn't even need a bra if I didn't need someplace to stuff all the excess skin. Actually hard to find bras I don't fall out of when I bend over.

Well, this might be where I am a bit lucky. For some reason, that is the one area of my body that never grew much, LoL. I am finally up to a full B now that I weigh 239. When I was at my smallest and fittest, I pretty much could have worn a training bra and been ok.

Lol. Your description is hilarious!

From what I’ve noticed, it seems like plastic surgery is more so a want than a need for most people (just my observation). It can cause medical issues like skin rashes, but if it doesn’t, having skin removed is elective. It also seems like some insurances will pay for it if it is deemed medically necessary, but that’s just what I’ve seen on here.

Once I lose all of my weight, I want a breast augmentation, Tummy Tuck, arms, etc! But that’s just me! With the way I carry my weight, it’s inevitable that I’ll have a lot of loose skin on my stomach and arms, no matter how much I lift weights. Not everyone feels the need to get rid of the excess skin, and that’s completely okay! We are all different.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
