Keeping Plastic Surgery a Secret

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I know this might sound like a silly question, but I'm such a private person, and I'm wondering how realistic it will be for people to not suspect that I had plastic surgery. I already had a Tummy Tuck several years ago (I was going through a transition at the time and didn't have to deal with returning to the same close-knit work community after my surgery). Now I'm planning to have several procedures done next month - back half of lower body lift, breast lift, vertical torsoplasty. Seriously my biggest fear is having people find out that I had surgery. I keep telling myself that I can wear baggy clothes to hide the changes since it's wintertime, but I'm not sure how realistic this is. What do you guys think? Do other people keep their surgeries private? Did people question you about the physical changes? I'm not concerned about recovery time (I'm telling people I'm going home for the holidays, which is true, and will have surgery in another part of the state). I'm just feeling very self-conscious about people noticing the changes. Also, does anyone have any experience with the vertical torsoplasty? I've been reading that a lot of plastic surgeons tend to be hesitant to perform this procedure due to the long scars that can't be hidden under 2-piece clothing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ok this may sound annoying, but plastic surgery IS to make you look better, so some changes will be noticeable but probably swelling will not make it so drastic in the beginning.

I have read that there are good products for scars that really improve them if you use them consistently as soon as you can.

Just tell them you are wearing a back support/waist trainer and working out. You have already lost weight and made changes to your appearance already so more changes won't seem odd (unless you acquired this job after losing it all).

I’m opposite I was very verbal with my choice for weight loss surgery and plastic surgery. Though I didn’t say anything till after the procedures were already done because I wast interested in defending my decision or hearing others opinions on why I shouldn’t have things done. I think plastic surgery is something harder to hide. I wish the best for you though.

try changing your hair color or wear it in a different style. People may think that’s what’s making you look so good

Potentially good subterfuge. Good suggestion.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
