Got my sleeve surgery one week ago. Up until

today I have felt no hunger and having a hard time getting 2 oz down. Today was the first day I actually felt hungry and ate 4 oz of salmon for dinner and was full but not stuffed. I then had some tea about an hour later and then a Protein Shake as a snack a few hours later. Didn’t finish but could have. And i am able to take bigger sips without pain. I feel like that is too much this early. Is it maybe just swelling is going down and healing is happening? I don’t want to stretch my stomach out. Anyone else experience this? What is the average amount that should be eaten at each meal this early?

I'm a few weeks out and not quite there. My intake has been quite slow. That being said, I have issues with nausea and vomiting which isn't so common at this point.

But your intake seems pretty reasonable to me. Up to 4oz is what my office said for meals and that got you full. And it looks like you didnt have more Protein until a few hours later, which seems to be good timing.

This VSG thing really affects each one of us so diffrently. You may just be one of the lucky people who heal quickly and handle typical intake right away.

I wouldnt be concerned but, if you are, you can always check in with your office and see what they say.

Please call your surgeon NOW and tell them what you did. They will tell you if it's ok or not.

Everything you eat in the first month feels like too much, but once you see the weight coming off you'll relax. I was most hungry during week 2 & 3. How full you get is definitely dependant on what you eat. Mashed potato vs grilled chicken for example

Everyone is different and some people bounce back a lot faster and are able to eat more at first. Everyone else will catch up in a few months and be getting the same amounts down. Just feel lucky you are doing well! I could easily drink liquids so I ditched the Protein Shakes because they left me hungry and I was just drinking calories away. I switched them out for soft foods to make me feel full.
Obviously stick with what your doctor recommends but just some information to keep in mind for later

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
