How long were you off work?

Recommended Posts

I took 2 weeks, I think if I was out longer I would go stir crazy. I am a teacher and it's crazy but I miss my high schoolers!

Hi I had my surgery on a Friday and could have gone back to work the following Tuesday, but I had a JP drain. Went back 10 days after surgery. Energy level was incredible and had no pain. I have a desk job.

@bettybooping I'm a physical education teacher and in the process of wls. Do you think it would be possible for me to return to work in 2 weeks if things go well? I was hoping to have it done over my Christmas break. Thanks

Honestly if your goes smooth like mine then yes you should be okay. I will day if they send you home with pain meds only take them IF you need them, otherwise they put you to sleep and you will take longer to recover. I stopped taking mine the 2nd day I was home and got out and walked to rebuild my strength.

Hi all, I was wondering how long all of you were off work after your surgeries? I work in a hospital and do a lot of heavy lifting. I would like some idea of a timeframe. Thanks.

I had my surgery last Thursday & my first day back to work was today. I don't have a strenuous job. I was glad to get back to my regular routine. I guess it all depends on your employer & how you are feeling :)

I’m taking two weeks off, just about done with the first week. After that I’m working from home for 4 more because of the nearly hour drive to my office.

I'm taking 6 weeks off. Using short term disability. My employer pays 100% of your pay, so I'm taking full advantage of it and taking the whole 6weeks with pay... You should check with your employer to see if they offer short term disability.

i had 4 weeks off-and still came back to work pretty tired. But realistically I could have gone back after two and just dealt with it.

They do at 70% pay....not enough

I took of six weeks, but I could have went back after two weeks. I have desk job for the most part. I was told not to lift anything over 15 lbs for the first six weeks.

thankfully my job does 100% for the first 4 weeks that's why i went for it. Plus a saved up and paid up all my bills so that while i waited for my pay checks things wouldn't fall behind.

I am a teacher, too, and am concerned about going back after one week. As I'm sure you can relate, being out for long periods of time is really difficult...losing instruction time, prepping for subs, worrying about destruction of the classroom, haha... I just don't see me feeling comfortable mentally taking more days off...but I also worry that physically I will struggle, too.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
