Calling all October sleevers!!

My doctor said to plan to be off 3 weeks.

Mine said 9 to 16 days is the normal range for time not driving or not attending high-motion working environment.

When my son-in-law was sleeved 26 months ago, he was told 15 to 28 days.

Things change. Doctors learn tighter techniques. Intrusion is less. Pain relief, if required, is a lot better.

I'll listen to my body and observe its feelings.

Pre-op diet... I started yesterday and OMFG I was constantly craving! Today was a lot better because I swapped an Optifast shake for an Optifast Soup, and that seemed to keep the hunger away.

Plus, I went food shopping today and it was painful walking past all the things I cannot eat. I died a little bit inside, but then I reminded myself that I've been so good sticking to plan.

Oct 10 seems so far away!

This liquid diet is just knocking off the pounds. I haven't even been on it a full week and I lost 12 more pounds, I went in today for the blood work and I was in shock. Makes me optimistic about the weight loss post surgery lol. It's been hard though. food has been on my mind ALL day. I just want meat. I don't know how vegetarians do it.

If you are able and have the time to take off, I'd do it. Just to make sure you get the rest and care you need before going to back to work. I'm stay at home mom, but husband is taking that week off just to help out.

I start mine on the 16th of October I think, (Need to see calendar) but yeah, that part is going to be hard for sure. Glad the Optifast Soup helped. Where did you get them? I had been on Optifast also years ago and it helped, but didn't know if you could get outside of them giving them to you. The 16th will be here quick :)

I slipped on day 3 and ate extra Protein. I felt guilty. Isn't it crazy what we consider a slip now vs before? Lol!

You might have slipped, but you took extra Protein, that's a good thing. YOU GOT THIS!!!

Meguone, I'm in Australia. Here, we can buy Optifast off the shelves from almost every pharmacy. The surgeons seem to recommend the brand a lot. That's why many others in Australia are using the same brand at least during pre-op.

October 13 (Friday the 13th) emoji4.png. I've been so looking forward to this, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'll be able to do it. Does anyone else feel like that? I guess I'm worried I won't be able to get in all my Water and Protein or I will somehow manage to be the one who fails to lose weight. Please tell me I'm not alone.

I sort of do, but then I remember the clothes I want to wear (cute t-shirts) and my wedding dress (red, we got married on October 31st and was a costume party. Planned to wear my dress every Halloween and to the Ren Fairs) and just being able to go up the steps in my own house without passing out. That's keeping me going. Plus we play Pokemon Go and I just have not been able to walk this year the way I want to. You can do it. :)

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
