Need to find inexpensive bariatric vitamins. HELP!

Recommended Posts

My Vitamin prescription is SUPER expensive to fill. They want like $389 for the vitamin B nasal spray, but then they throw in the chewable multi vitamin and the chewable Calcium. What a deal huh! Lol. But it's super expensive and I just can't afford it. Even with my insurance and the coupon it still is $289. Any suggestions?

What? My surgeon said as long as I take 2 Flintstones chewable vitamins she was good with that. Of course I take B-12, Iron and D3 supplements. OTC and not that expensive. I might be wrong, but it sounds like they sell it in their office and make mucho $$ profit off of you. Ridiculous

Yeah....unless you've got other things going on, you should be fine with OTC Vitamins. I had the sleeve done 8/14. The next day I was swallowing B1(100mg)$5 , chewing Centrum chewables (2/day) $8. Two weeks out I now swallow a D3 (2000IU) $6 and take B12 $5 sublingually(melts under your tongue). Will add Calcium & Iron in a couple weeks. Every surgeon is somewhat different, but there's no reason you vitamins should be costing that much.

My surgeon and dietitian both recommended Bariatric Advantage products. I have 500mg calcium chews and a multi Vitamin chewable. I also take Biotin, and omeprazole daily. I really like the products so far. They are a little pricey but nothing like yours. I am fully out of pocket for mine, as insurance will cover nothing it sees as OTC.

Good luck!!! I guess I should be taking a priobiotic daily as well.

I'm so broke I was thrilled to be able to get some Vitamins at Wal-Mart: chewable Multivitamins, Biotin, B complex, calcium citrate with D3. Of course, it's early days and I haven't been tested yet to see if there are any deficiencies.

Apply it can't hurt one is Bariatric Advantage you can get 90 days supply free. The other one is Celebrate again 90 day supply but for a year. Just my 2 cents...

I know that certain surgeon's practices will give you a discount code to use with Bariatric Advantage, even. My surgeon's practice gives me a 15% discount on orders made using the code.

Search Amazon for bariatric Vitamins. You can definitely get them a lot cheaper than what you are paying.

I used the spray post-op because my Dr Recommended and after pre-op testing I had hit my max out of pocket for the year so they were free the rest of the year anyway. After that...

I get a sublingual B-12 from Sam's club. If you have a Sam's membership that is the best place to get Vitamins. If you have a Sam's plus membership you can get script Vitamin D for free.

These are a good Multivitamin, you need 2 a day though not the recommended 1.

If you need a chewable and live near a Trader Joe's

I hate chewables, but I used those for a while and they aren't as sweet as most. Def not as sweet as the Bariatric versions.

I was told by my surgeon to avoid gummy vitamins and time release Vitamins because they would not be absorbed properly.

I buy my advanced multi vits directly from Bariatric Advantage $41. (you can request a hold when needed). My Iron, B vit, from Walmart and my Calcium with vit D from costco. It is SUPER important for us to take these Vitamins because we cannot eat the amount of food to get these through our diets.

Surgeons all say different things it seems. There is no real gold standard. I think a lot of it depends on your weight, blood profile, Vitamin deficiency's, etc. We are all different. It probably would not hurt to have a complete blood panel done and go from there. My surgeon told me the other day to take 2 Flintstone chewables a day. That's it. I also take Vit D3, Iron and B12 supplements.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
