I had surgery on Thursday and I have not gone to the bathroom since last Wednesday. It will be a week tomorrow. Is this normal or should I be concerned. I don't feel bloated or even have the feeling that I have to go. I'm getting concerned should I take a stool softener. Is this normal? Should I take something or just let it happen when it happens. Sorry to much info[emoji45]

I wouldn't take any harsh laxatives, make sure you're drinking your gallon of Water or as much water as you can. Get your self some Metamucil or some type of stool softener. Better yet consult your doctor, check your post surgery notes.

My doctor as well advised me to take milk of magnesia. I was in such distress I couldn't even sit down! He said to take a full capful twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening until I have the runs, then taper down to where it's just right for me and I was going at least once per day.

I went from a painful compacted situation to having gentle bowel movements every day! I've had Constipation problems all my life and wish I would have known to take MOM before this! It's like a miracle for me.

I have wondered about Linzess ince seeing tv ads. Would like more information on how it works.

Hope you feel better soon hang in there kid it'll get better!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
