Nobody comments on weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I am 50lbs down and experience the same. My friends and family are always comment ing but many of my coworkers just kinda look at me. I think some ppl don't want to offend and play it safe by not saying anything. Yesterday me and a coworker was at the microwave at the same time and as we mentioned how good our food smelled and as I talked about how I am trying hard to eat healthy she said "you have lost weight" . I think I opened the door talking about healthy eating blah blah.

I'm 86 lbs down and most people don't say anything. I didn't shout out to the world about my surgery but I also didn't keep it secret. The people who know are the ones who usually say something.
I'm going to a business meeting tomorrow and I'm curious what people might say. It's been 6 months or more since I saw these people. A couple of them know but not everyone. I may get more comments because I got my hair done and im more starwberry blonde than about my weight.

I agree with other posts...for some it is a taboo topic. For others there will be jealousy.

Oh they will!!!!! I lost 50 lbs before anyone noticed then once they did notice it was out of control. Then the feedback was too much. Lol. So enjoy it. Soon it will be all anyone talks to you about. [emoji23][emoji23]

Sometimes it's hard for people to notice when they see you day in and day out. I bet if someone saw you, that you have not seen in like a year would be all over you with compliments! Just know you are doing a great job and keep up the good work!! :)

I totally understand this. I felt the same way on the beginning. I was down 80lbs and no one said much and then at around 100lbs people started saying things all the time. And then funny enough this last 34 I’ve lost everyone myself included can see so much more of a difference than from when I lost the first 100lbs. Sometimes people aren’t sure why your losing and are hesitant to say anything. People will notice. If nothing else the way you carry yourself and increase in Confidence which naturally comes with weight loss. Congratulations on losing that amount of weight. [emoji173]️

Exactly what they said[emoji1312][emoji1312][emoji1312]. No one at all noticed the first thirty five pounds of mine but as soon as I hit 50 pounds it was all anyone talked about and made me veryyyyy uncomfortable. Not I have to lost about all I am
Going to probably - 62 and am almost at goal
Weight and no one says a thing anymore :) and that bugs me. Ha! So no comment or lack of comment ever made me happy. Go
Figure . Make your own happiness I guess is my advice to myself. .

It happens... most important thing is that you feel great with your weight loss. Also, people who sees you everyday it may take few months to realize you have lost weight..

Everyone that’s mentioned jealousy is 100% spot on!!

One of my very close friends had WLS 3 years ago and she still has friends that haven’t mentioned a word about it. Where as I am the type of person to be genuinely happy and proud of people... some people aren’t..

I’ll be completely honest, this the main reason I’m not telling anyone (besides a select few) about my surgery in 53 days.

Besides that... way to go girlie!!!!! You keep doing you!!

That is really sad. Some people don't seem to have it in them to be genuinely happy for others. Jealousy maybe. Well I am more than happy to say CONGRATS! Im sure you look fantastic!!! 🤠

So-- I have lost 70 pounds now and four sizes, and apart from my husband, mother, and brother/sister-in-law, nobody-- not one person!-- has made a comment about it. Not even a vague "looking good". It is so bizarre to me! I still have 40-50 pounds to go, but I see a huge difference when I look in the mirror.

Did this happen to anyone else? I know this is not why I had surgery, I'm not in it for the glory or vanity, but... weird, no? I thought someone would have noticed and/or suspected something by now...

Wow girl, 101 pounds down. It's noticeable. Looking great.

Political correctness seems to be a big concern after all the sexual harassment and fat shaming in the news. People may be afraid to make comments.

I got down fifty pounds and no comments outside my family and close friends. I showed a photo of my before and after. I got a comment keep going..Ouch it stung a bit.

Thanks for everyone's perspective and support! You guys are great, it's just so good to hear from people who have been there.

Update: a couple months later now, and I've lost over 100 pounds, and I do get comments. Nothing that makes me uncomfortable, mainly a "you look great" here and there. Not necessary, I know. *I* am happy with how I look and that's the important thing... but obviously good to know I'm not the only person who sees the new me in the mirror!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
