Hello i had my bypass surgery on 9/1 yesterday i started with more consistencial food like creams and yogurt and for the first time since my surgery i felt full so it takes me more time to drink my Protein Shakes but i know its important to have them so i take my time. And the pain is almost gone completely. Im really happy for the way things are going and i hope al my september buddies feel the same way too

Congratulations! Glad you're doing well! There's a lot of other options for getting your Protein in. The BariatricPal Store has some and Amazon has some Protein Shots that are only 4 ounces and they have 42g of protein. I hope this helps.

Hi ladies, at least I think they're all ladies in here. My apologies if there's a guy. I am six days postop, I cannot drink the Protein Shakes at all. Even with anti-nausea medication. I do fine getting my Water in. And I can get a little bit of broth on occasion. But I am so weak. I'm supposed to be on a complete liquid diet for another 15 days.
But I've read and watched some various posts and YouTube videos that people started their soft foods in week two. I was wondering if anybody had any information on waiting for the end of week three to start soft foods or what their thoughts are on starting a little bit earlier. Since I'm not getting any nutrition except from Vitamins.< br>

Hi. It really depends on the person and how your doctor and nutritionist are seeing your recovery. The y started me on purees and creams and greek yogurt after 1 week postop. But you really need to try to find a way to get the Proteins in because they are like (beside water) the most important thing. I think they sell like shots of Protein and I know the protein tastes awful but it is what it is. Or talk to your doctor and try to find a solution together

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
