I'm new to the forums but I'm also nervous about the surgery. I am 245 pounds and 5'8. I would like to ideal be 185-190. I know I shouldn't have a set weight goal but I don't want to lose too much weight or have loose skin. I need a peace of mind about this I'm scheduled for Surgery February 20. I do go to the gym now and do workout to possible build muscles.

Also Vitamins for the rest of my life???

Vitamins for the rest of your life is a lot better than diabetes for the rest of your life. I'm diabetic and it sucks. I mean it sucks! To me there is no trade off.

I take 10 different meds a day, if having surgery & taking Vitamins everyday gets me off of them, I'll take it.

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
