band to sleeve pain and anxiety

Recommended Posts

i went to a doctor yesterday about my pain in the abdomen on the left side. he said basically its mostly psychological and it is caused by anxiety. when i get up in the morning that pain is there and runs into my back and pelvis area. he said that is the main reason why im getting this pain. im not exactly sure if what he is saying is correct.

Is the pain near an incision site?

Unfortunately many male doctors discount pain reported by their female patients. I hope that's not the case with you but if so you may want to consult another physician.

no im not a female. that's screwed up that you say that.. this sounds confusing. this doesn't feel like it has anything to do with depression because it is physical pain. any other advice? screwed up.

yes it is. this is where the lap band port is. in the lower left quadrant. its like a cramping pain and discomfort. it feels like tension and it bothers me. i have no idea if i should trust the doctor.

I'm no expert but I can say that when I had my procedure, I felt slot of pulling, burning from the stitches that were placed inside and it subsided after a few weeks. Also I do not think a second opinion would hurt. I hope you find relief and get answers soon. :)

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
