I'm amused by people who know exactly what four ounces looks like. Four ounces looks completely different depending upon the density of the food. Given this is a weight loss surgery forum I would be sceptical about that particular method, particularly when four ounces tells you nothing about the calorific (let alone the Protein or sugar) content of what you're putting in your body.

I'm confused by what you mean here.

I think you are talking about people that guess at portion sizes, but this confuses me because even if they weigh out 4oz, this could still apply..

Personally, I eat mostly single- ingredient foods, so it is easy to know the nutritional content.

Interesting. To me it is strange to weigh/measure your food. Thanks for the response.

I do sometimes lol like today lol. But my team and surgeon does not want me too lol. They prefer I eat a healthy balanced diet in small amounts and not focus on weighing and macros.

Most of my weight gain was due to medical conditions/medication. Don't get me wrong, when I feel bored I still want to snack/graze but I now go for a walk and it seems to take away the boredom/hunger.

Can I ask , if your weight was caused due to a medical condition and medication, how does the sleeve work for you? If it had nothing to do with the way you were eating prior to surgery? Seems alot of effort to go to if MOST of your issue was nothing to do with eating habits. :) Just curious. As surely you still have that medical condition but the WLS is clearly working for you.

Edited to swap sleeve with wls incase you didnt have a sleeve lol

Tracking your food & macro's is very helpful for more than just weight loss and maintaining weight. Since I also track my weight training and BM's, I can draw correlations from my diet to my gym performance and or Constipation.

You track how often you poo? This is a new one on me . Do you have kids? Do you still keep all that tracking up if they are around? I know many people manage to track with kids lol but never seen someone track to this extent it sounds very time consuming, but obviously things people get used to can be fit in somehow .

. The weighing, amongst other things, isn't about knowledge it's about training our minds to take and support decisions tat are better for us. That's a lot harder but it's how you change long term behaviour.

Lol i am pretty sure people who do not weigh make the supportive decision that is better for them too lol

Everyone is different and every plan is different. You cant decide what works for everyone as if this is the only way to change long term behaviour. It is very good yes, but does not suit every personality type to do it the way YOU think its best.

We should all be respectful that one size does not fit all.

NOT tracking got me into this mess. Even with kids, you should find 5 minutes to write stuff down. Journaling is so good for lots of things!

I was not talking about tracking in general. I was particularly asking about tracking all his bowel movments lol i cant even remmeber my poo paterns lol. I did not say I was having any issues. :)

edit- Though because of my history etc my surgeon and team do not feel i should track , but prefer i eat a healthy balanced diet. Though I do weigh sometimes and also see how I go as I eat more I will evaluate. But I am happy to follow my teams advice :)

edit- I eat the same things anyway.

I find it fascinating that people think they know what suits every individual, better than the individuals own surgeon etc. I only know about myself, no one elses journey.

So i don't either. I know exactly what 4oz looks like visually and i stop when i'm full.

But for people who need a food scale, i think its a great idea to keep you on track. Some people do eventually strech their stomach and over eat over time. And side note Amazon sells a super cool food scale that actually tells all the nutrition facts/ macros for everything you eat. So for example it will tell you exactly how many calories and Protein you're eating even if it's just 2oz of chicken. It's on $39.00

I think its great how kind your being your saying what works for you and also saying what works for others i great, i think this is a great attitude to have :)

I'm sure they don't but its good to know how many days you missed if you get backed up. You should start recognizing your body's habits. If I skip a day, I'm already going for the milk of magnesia. Some people end up going to the er for stomach pains and they think the worst, They give you an enema and then your whole world becomes heaven again.

Yep, 2 kids. I don't find it to be time consuming at all. There are many BM tracking apps available for various reasons. Sit down, start the timer. Finish up, stop the timer. At the end of the year I export the data and put it into my personal matrix spreadsheet. Been doing it now for about 2 years. There are examples on my profile page in the gallery. I keep track of my major lifts, my food, and BM's.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
