Hi, I am Scheduled for a Band to Sleeve revision due to complications, but have good amount of weight off.

I was talking with my wife last night about upcoming surgery, She brought up how hard it to see me after surgery, and the Body Lift was the worst.

it was actually done Out Patient, in an Excellent 1st Class Facility here in Raleigh. The Surgery was 8+ hr long.

She was not prepared about how bad I would look, Guess I looked more than half dead as they wheeled me out to the car! ( They explained when i was brought out that

is how they want you to go home) . I could walk and get to my chair etc, still kind of out of it, but I have no idea how bad I looked) Still Don't.

So due make sure to discuss this with the Dr. so your partner knows what to expect when they see you! Especially if you go home.

Awww...it would be very hard to see my husband going through anything of the sort. (He doesn't have to, but I couldn't imagine having to see it on him). Bless your wife's heart. Fortunately my husband has seen me through several surgeries (laparoscopic and cesarean) so it's not too bad. I'll for sure have him look at photos and videos of any kind of plastics when the time comes though. It's good to be reminded. Thanks!

When I had my RNY my hubby was very well versed. LOL He had a Lap Band for 13 years. But the biggest thing that I feel helped him was I had Back Surgery 10 years ago. The VERY WORST SURGERY imagined. I actly had wished they would have let me die on the table. He was a trooper for sure!! He had to help me and his sick Mother who lived accross town from us. I loved him even more after I got thru my 3 months of hell!! I think he is well prepared for anything that may come. As I am for him. He had a failed revision from his Band to a RNY. The band had eroded into his liver. He was sick for 9 months with abcesses and 3 of them he doesn't remember even to this day. That was Sept 2013, jus 2 months after my RNY. I think we are both well prepared for whatever comes our way now!! Our marriage has survived for 43 years with each having their turn of caring for the other. It seemed to make our journey together even stronger. Good Luck with your journey!!

Sherrie,

I can relate. My husband is wonderful, he has been through a few surgeries with me, but the worst surgery that I ever had & NEVER want again was a hemorrhoidectomy surgery. It was horrible & the most painful surgery I have EVER experienced in my life! Next time I'll just deal with the hemorrhoids LOL

LauriDj,

I know that one too!! LOL My hubby had what they call a THROMBOSED HEMROID plus Fistula's internanally!! He went thru quite a time. It all started when we lived in Nevada and I made a killer pot of Chilibeans. The next day I filled his thermos with them. The top had popped up on it but he didn't think anything about it. Well let me tell you what MY POOR HUBBY went thru hell with them. It was so baad that he had to go to a Dr that we found out was a DR for the WHORES!!! It was terrible to say the least. Since then he had 2 or 3 more bouts with it. One time he was in so much pain and I told him let me take a look, I looked at his bottom and I just told him he needed to go the DR right now!!! The hemmie was outside and was the size of a softball!! I kid you not!! I was so scared, I didn't tell him what I seen because I didn't want him to panic!! Terrible stuff!! My MIL had hemmie surgery and she told me it was like pooping a pineapple upside down after her surgery. Scared me to death. Hey I have em but I am like you I will just deal with em!!

Sherrie,

Hubby & I were truck drivers, We both drove a total of about 18 years, about 2 of them together.

One time before we met my hemmies (so much easier to spell that LOL) were bad that I went to a clinic & the Dr lanced it, then gave me pain med & antibiotic, well, antibiotics also tend to give me hemmies. (There are maybe 2 kinds I can take with no issues, that's it), well gee, guess what happened? I was back at the clinic the next day, and this was about a week before Christmas, luckily I was staying at a Comfort Suites practically across the street from the clinic because bumps & using the clutch to start & stop in a semi truck was murder LOL So next day I was back in there to have them lanced again.

About 4 years ago we were in Colorado & they were REALLY bad, when they get bad hubby takes care of them (too tough with my weight), and I we were talking about taking me to the hospital. Finally the pain calmed down & I got some sleep. When it was my turn to drive I called my dispatcher & told her what was going on, I started driving, and even hubby was amazed at how loud I could yell in pain LOL Needless to say after a day or so they finally subsided.

I had my family Dr refer me & the Dr that 1st did a colonoscopy, then removed my hemmies, was a good man & REALLY funny. When we went in he examined me, and when we were discussing the ectomy he said that I am going to want to punch him in the face every day for at LEAST 10 days. I had my surgery on Friday January 13th. Luckily he was having a good day LOL Needless to say, come January 17th, I was screaming so loud & crying so bad when I went to the bathroom that I surprised the police didn't show up at our door LOL

I emailed him after about a week & told him that punch & face were not quite what I had in mind, kick & balls were more along what I was thinking at this point LOL

Needless to say, when I told him that I needed to have an endoscopy done, he referred me to Dr Gabrielson, and when I told him about me having the sleeve done in 2011 (I didn't lose much weight) & that I get really bad heartburn & GERD that he told me that I am an excellent candidate to be fast tracked for the gastric bypass. So now I'm doing all the reading & trying to understand things. When I had the sleeve done I had it done in Mexico, so I didn't have to read or study anything, they told me to make sure I put myself into ketosis for 2 weeks prior to my surgery, then tell me what to eat post op & that was it. After that, at least in my case & the group I went with, they could have cared less, with the exception of getting the money from me.

So basically that's my life story for the last 10 years LOL

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
