Does anyone else watch this show when they are feeling down or weak?

Yes, I do. It helps keep me on track when I see them mess up. Also, I can relate to all their feelings, even though I've never weighed that much. Thinking about "Oh, it'll be ok to do this and that, it won't hurt anything," then seeing that it DOES matter.

I watch it and sit on my recumbent bike or elliptical and work out while I watch. It amazes me how a few of them can eat large amounts so soon after. I'm 6 months out and have eaten sliders thinking it seems like a lot. "Following dr plan" to get enough Protein and calories, but a sandwich from drive thru.....I can't even look at a biscuit still.

I watch it and so glad I did. It prompted me to research it, go to the GP about it and then fund it myself. :)

I just watch it no matter how I am feeling. It keeps me straight. It was a motivator to have my surgery. I can relate despite being no where near 600lbs, but I keep telling myself that I easily could've been there,

I'm pre-op, but I watch the show as well. Even though many of the patients are twice my weight, the food struggles are so relatable. Plus, it's interesting to see the family dynamics, and how they contributed either by enabling or by being abusive. I also find it helpful to watch the episodes with noncompliant patients, because it helps me see some of the unhealthy rationalizations they use for why they're failing. Some of those folks construct elaborate "woe is me" delusions. They'll put away a plate of mexican food, then swear up and down they followed the diet 100% during their follow-up visit.

I watch this show also to see that there really are people in a lot worse situations than I am in and it actually makes me pretty sure I can do this.

That's a good thing and knowing that surgery will help me with cravings and hopefully I will think about every thing I put into my body before I eat it.

I feel the same my sw: 238 lbs
My cw:208 I am only 4'11" so I believe my bmi is about 41 or more and if I don't take care of this I can see myself hitting the 300 lb mark, thats what makes me have the courage to keep pushing forward.

Right? When I said it was a motivator for me to have my surgery, that's exactly what I was talking about. I felt like if they can do it...I sure as heck can.

I watched this show post-op at the hospital. It was the episode with the man who had a prescription drug problem and a love of pizza.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
