I was told Tylenol only. But I have a huge bottle of liquid hydrocodone so I won't need anything else for a while[emoji23][emoji23]

I was Tylenol only before surgery but post sleeve surgery aleve is back on. I know you can't take nsaids with by-pass so maybe that's the difference. Doc mentioned it a few times.

@bs19gal I had sleeve April 14 2014 and I was told to not to take any NSAID's. I am being revised to RNY April 11th but I would suggest to confirm with your surgeon just to be sure. NSAIDS can cause problems down the line but even more so to the healing tummy. Please just double check with your surgeon.

@bs19gal @MelissaH74 @emirn1 now that you guys have crossed over tell me, was it as bad as we all are anticipating? The pain was manageable and was never unbearable? What would you say was the hardest part this far. CONRAGTS TO YOU ALL!! I'm so happy all went well and looking forward to following your journeys. :D

Thanks for everyone's concern on the NSAID, it is double and triple checked its even in my release notes instructions from my doctor.

The worse part so far is the surgery gas they pump in to help the cameras have a clear view its trapped up in my rip cage at the back and its pretty sore to breath heavily or be in certain position but its manageable, just need to find the comfort position. The incision pain just feels abit like a really kick ass ab work out a few days before that is totally tolerable.

The pain when first coming round after surgery was pretty bad and I just watched for the pain light to come up and hit it immediately for another hit but I got up to my room and to be honest I slept on and off for so long you are not really conscious. I gave myself some more hits on the pain button but really not bad at all. I was up and walking a lot quite early and after the first escorted tour of the ward I was able to get up and walk on my own whenever I wanted. There was an IV incident during the night where mine came up and for some reason they couldn't get anyone else to put one in for 2.5 hours to say I was a tad annoyed is an understatement as it was 2.5 hours without pain meds and really set that back a bit.

I just did a 2 mile walk and picked up a heat pad for my back, my only discomfort is my back to be honest everything else seems fine.

Getting the fluids in is no joke though, very challenging.

Settled in at home, taking my pain meds around the clock-- the pain is significant. Doing my best just to stay hydrated--- really difficult to figure how much to drink, I have a medicine cup I'm filling up every 30min or so. Did anyone else have a drain? They pulled mine right before I went home.

The worst part has been the gas pains & the dry mouth! I'm up & moving but def slowly & im still taking my pain meds around the clock. It's just hard to find a comfy position, I usually sleep on my stomach & right now I can't even get on my side.

See I'm no longer in any pain but hubby doesn't want me to stop taking meds just yet in case something happens, but OMG this itch got me feeling like I'm on crack or something!!!

Like we went shoe shopping yesterday. I literally don't feel as though I even had surgery. Of course I've never let surgery hold me down for anything I always push through, but sure wish I had it in me to milk it for a few days[emoji23][emoji23]

Hi everyone. I had and am still having a rough time. I guess it's my lupus making it worse.

Nurses at my hospital were horrible all they allowed was Water 24 hours after the surgery which took 4 hours.

None of the pain meds meds worked and my pain is very severe. I honestly thought since I have had numerous c-sections I would be ok. This is much much worse.

Glad you are all doing better.

I went in Monday for the sleeve. The pain I had after waking up was horrible. Things calmed down after a few hours. Every time I started to doze off my oxygen would drop. They moved me to another section of the hospital to monitor me closer. They put a cpap on me Monday night but it didn't do much good. I ended up trying to sleep with the oxygen tube in my mouth. They did this because I sleep with my mouth open. I was pretty good pain wise until last night when I was in tears. My stomach was very sore from the 7 holes. I was a lot better by mid afternoon today. They just have me honey to coat my stomach. My swallow test yesterday went well.
I'm still on oxygen and staying another night. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow!

Sorry if that is confusing! I'm not really with it yet :/

Yeah I was 5lbs up on my surgery weight but with everything going on with my body right now I'm not paying much attention to the scales. I'm sure we just need to stick it out for a little longer to start seeing the fruits of our pain.

They give you lots of IV fluids, that's prob where the extra weight is coming from. Try to keep a positive attitude, it will get better!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
