For some reason my surgeon only has a one day clear liquid diet pre op to help shrink your liver a little. Honestly this liquid diet before surgery is one of my biggest fears..lol

NEVER EVER EVER go to the Grocery store when you are 3 days in to your pre-op liquid diet. My preparation left a lot to be desired. I decided that starting my Liquid phase 4 days early was a Great idea lol. They almost had to mop up the drool on aisle 9. I wasn't even obsessing over any of the wrong foods but those Rotisserie Chickens were calling my name laying there looking all Sexy. I am Thankful to say that I survived and left the Store felling like Conan The Barbarian all Rough, Tough and Victorious.

Well alright Conan.... great job

When I had my surgery, there was snow and ice everywhere; walking outside wasn't an option. I would pace the hallway in my house every hour for about 10 minutes. Then when my wife got home we would load up and go to the nearby Meijer. While making my lap, I would inevitably end up in the grocery side of the place. Though I don't remember it being enticing. For me it was more nauseating.

However, by the time I was at the soft foods stage, I was having feverish wet dreams about food!

Tonight was fun as I pushed all the meat and lovely vegetables away so I could strain a cup of Delicious Bone Broth out of the Crockpot. Honestly in the past I never would eat much of the broth but now it is a delicacy after making it through the day on Protein Shakes. This Upcoming Surgery has reminded me to be thankful.

Meijers....haven't heard of that store for 25 years! Used to live in OH. This is off topic, obviously...but I really enjoyed this:

"your success is not dependent upon my support. If you fail, it's not the forums or sleeves fault. It's yours." RIGHT ON!

:lol:!! Thankfully my pre-op was a little lax. It cut across thanksgiving weekend so I had to turn away a lot of food...
Had some turkey in the evening (allowed by my diet). Got a friend to do an ultrasound just to be sure..

Good on you!

I actually cried at one stage in the supermarket while we bought food for my boyfriend. It's brutal!

@2-Liter, It will all be worth it in the end. When you are able to walk 3 or 4 miles without stopping to rest, when you buy clothes in a normal store with lots of selections, when you don't have to struggle out of a soft squishy chair, you can bend over and tie your shoe laces, when you can bend over and pick stuff off the floor without having a crane pick you up....... well, you get the picture.... it will be so worth it. Being healthy feels so much better than what anything on Isle 9 might taste like. You have will power and determination and you will make it. Good luck and I'll see you on the losers bench after surgery.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
